Whenever I get asked at parties I say,

Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964).

Which is true. It usually halts polite conversation but exposes real future friends.

Other definite favorite films that affected me deeply at one point or another in life are:

Ran (1985)
Princess Mononoke (1997)
Videodrome (1983)
A Serious Man (2009)
The Fountain (2006)
The Shining (1980)
Hana-bi (1997)
To Be or Not to Be (1942)
The Battle of Algiers (1966)
Wild Strawberries (1957)
Seven Samurai (1954)
My Darling Clementine (1946)
Winstanley (1975)
The Thin Man (1934)
Children of Men (2006)
Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972)
Rebecca (1940)

I hope you don't mean you actually say the complete title out loud.

That's grounds for a bowl of spinach dip on the head.
