but yeah, it puts a "USA" listing on some movies that are an American co-production even if they were actually made elsewhere.

Roughly:
12% are British
11.5% are French
6.5% are Italian
4.5% are Japanese, 4.5% are Eastern European
3.4% are German, 2.2% are Scandinavian, 1.8% are Israeli and 1.4% are Spanish

That was 2012. Here is an update:

Out of 3673:
2157 USA, or about 58.7%
445 French, or about 12.1%
431 UK, or about 11.7%
265 Italian, or about 7.2%
238 German, or about 6.5%
171 Japanese, or about 4.7%
149 Eastern Europe, or about 4.1% (including Russia, Turkey)
109 Canada, or about 3%
85 Scandinavia, or about 2.3% (including Finland)
82 Israeli, or about 2.2%
67 Chinese-speaking countries, or about 1.8%
56 Australian, 41 Iranian

Well, I guess I'll pile on the bump.

Now 53% American (down from 62% in 2011. Don't know why exactly).

other notables:
15% Japanese
13% French
12% British
7% German / West German
5% Italian (expected this to be higher)

Honestly, the country listing is horrible on Criticker; just about every animated film has the USA as one of its countries, so long as it received an English dub, and it's even true for a fair number of live action movies, like Shogun Assassin.

Much higher than I expected, regardless, but that's probably because the vast majority of pictures on my account are from childhood.

Wrote that almost 4.5 years ago. Now I'm at 1684/2100, or 80.2%. Dropped two percentage points, although I reiterate again that the listing of countries is silly.

United Kingdom is 204/2100 or 9.7%
Hong Kong is 91/2100 or 4.3%.
France is 90/2100 or 4.3%.
Japan is 80/2100 or 3.8%.
Germany is 70/2100 or 3.3%.
Italy is 30/2100 or 1.4%

1,474 of 1,642, or around 90%. I'm not surprised in the least. I'm American. And America is great.

As has been pointed out, the country assignments are really skewed. My total is 1640 with 1480 of that being US (90%).

Thought I would add in other English language countries:
UK--232 (which includes among other films, O Brother Where Art Thou ?!?)
Canada--41
Australia--41 (that seems low)
New Zealand--11
For a new total of 1805 = 110%

Then throw in the other biggies:
France--92
Germany--92
Italy--24
Spain--22
Which comes to = 2035 (124%). And that's not even counting Greenland, N. Korea or Zimbabwe.

Did you know that The Help is attributed to India, but Slumdog Millionaire and Life of Pi are not. At least Gandhi is.

Then there the quantity and quality categories which, due to the great quantity and financing from the US, would cause some to say that the US an "unfair" advantage. Lord knows we must be fair, but only the Devil claims to know how to accomplish it.

Set in Mississippi, filmed in Mississippi, American book/screenplay, American cast, crew and director, even American music; but partial financing gets it attributed to India?...(nothing against India). Turn that all around for Slumdog and Pi, but without India.

And as bizarre as those are, nothing compares to O Brother being a UK film. That's hick Mississippi in spades. American cast and crew, Jewish directors, music/humor that screams Bluegrass/South'ren hayseed, and pokes fun at Homer's Greek classic The Odyssey. If the Queen ever finds this out, they'll be crowning King Charles shortly thereafter [God rest her soul, long live the king!]. His first act would undoubtedly be to have the UK sue Criticker. O the humanity!
