In my nerd dream of dreams there would be a feature where you could rank individual performances (actor, writer, director, cinematograpghy etc. and that score would make up the "overall" ) as this will only rank actors fortunate enough to star in really good films (not to say their performances were not a reason the film was good, but you know what I mean.)
1. John Ratzenberger 9.15 I rate most of the Pixar films pretty highly. So Cliff fucking Clavin tops the list.
2. Michael Palin 8.92 Big Python fan, his documentaries are pretty keen too.
3. Paul Newman 8.82 Nuff said.
4. Martin Freeman 8.80 Sherlock
5. Martin Scorsese 8.67 lol
6. Terry Gilliam 8.64
7. Emma Watson 8.40 My love of Potter coming through.
8. Sterling Holloway 8.20 I didn't know who this was. Appears to be a Disney voice actor.
9. Benedict Cumberbatch 8.09
10. Frances McDormand 8.05 A lot of Coen Bro's appearances but I do really like her work.

Elijah Wood fell 0.14 points to 11th place overall. I'm not sure what change I made for that to happen. I'm thinking it was lowering my ranking for Everything is Illuminated, which I loved, probably ranked too high. He doesn't deserve to be on the list anyways, having an inflated score from the Lord of the Rings films.

5 film minimum due to low volume:
90.60 gunnar björnstrand (5)
75.20 christian bale (5)
74.20 david thewlis (5)
72.20 catherine deneuve (5)
68.20 christopher plummer (5)
67.33 john hurt (6)
66.43 michael gambon (7)
66.25 helena bonham carter (8)
64.00 orson welles (5)
63.83 peter stormare (6)
hard to know what this means. a bergman actor, and a few harry potter actors, the latter which suggests there haven't been many actors which have been in uniformly great films.

Small change. Bill Murray dropped two places to 8th with a score of 77.07 after I dropped my score for Zombieland a little.

James Stewart 74.92 12
Marilyn Monroe 74.42 12
Wallace Shawn 71.80 10
Vincent Price 71.09 11
Bette Davis 70.91 11
Marlene Dietrich 69.85 13
Eugene Pallette 69.64 11
Buster Keaton 69.23 13
George Johnson 68.00 10
Sterling Holloway 66.20 10
Had to look who George Johnson was: voice of Goofy in a bunch of 1940s short films. Sterling Holloway and Wallace Shawn are also known mainly for voice acting...Other than those, it's classic Hollywood, there come the actors whose oeauvres I have explored more fully (dropping the film minimum below 10 starts to give more variety, with 8 the top choice is Elina Salo, with 7 Catherine Deneuve, 6 Porter Hall, 5 Emil Jannings and 3 Yoko Minimida)

Re: Top 10 highest-scoring actors (10 film minimum)
(October, 2012 rankings)
[spoiler]
Today, October 2014:
1. Diane Keaton - 79.15 (13 films)
2. Alain Delon - 77.30 (10)
3. Marcello Mastroianni - 77.00 (14)
4. François Périer - 77.00 (10)
5. Vittorio Gassman - 76.58 (12)
6. Claudia Cardinale - 76.17 (12)

8. Gian Maria Volonté - 74.00 (10)
9. Gunnar Björnstrand - 73.77 (13)

Runners up: Henry Fonda, Werner Herzog, Gena Rowlands, Timothy Carey, Mia Farrow, Simone Signoret, John Cassavetes, Val Avery, Klaus Kinski, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Steve McQueen, Robert Duvall, Michael Murphy......
Again, an interesting reflection of the quality of movies that an actor chooses or get chosen to act in (and which I chose to watch), but not necessarily an indication of the actor's own ability.

Needless to say I never would have guessed this list and it is very far from representative of my favorite actors.
Here are my bottom 5:
1. Clive Owen - 22.00 (very worst ranked)
2. Arnold Schwarzenegger
3. Malcolm McDowell
4. Jim Carrey
5. Keith David
