British Fellow Wakes up in a Tub Missing Kidneys & MORE!

Movie is moderately new...late 90's or early 2000's. The protagonist is British...as is the entire cast, I believe. He lives by himself in an apartment, works at a dead-end job (I think), and has some kind of fascination with...conspiracy theories? urban Legends? Something like that. Nerdy, but it lends itself to the plot.

I think he gets phone calls from a woman...maybe an American...I think I remember he has some kind of thing for her, but she's formal? I'm just pulling out pieces here. Maybe it's not phone calls, but the internet.

He receives a package, gets a video, email, something, and I think this begins to cause blackouts.

In one of the blackouts, he wakes up somewhere with his Kidneys removed. Mexico, perhaps. I remember a scene where he's crawling across a road, a priest helps him...maybe he wakes back up in his apartment?

But, the theme of the movie is that these blackouts keep happening, he keeps having Urban Legend/CIA/Alien/Bigfoot/Etc experiences in the midst of these, and then finds himself back in his apartment and goes about his day.

I'm sorry for being so vague. I remember snippets. Either way, as the move progresses, things slowly become more and more surreal...which is kind of why it's hard to remember. He'll find himself back in his apartment, think he was just dreaming w/e, and then get a phone call from someone saying something that proves it was real. Stuff like that.

To further confuse the issue, I don't remember if it was this movie or the end of that Ryan Gosling movie where it turns out he was really in the hospital or something the whole time and just imagining everything. You get the gist.

Please tell me the name of this movie. I'd really like to see it again.
