Movie i seen when i was really young.

I only rem a few parts to the movie. just the way it starts. a cop and his family is killed by what looks like a mob style hit. the only suviovor is the son of the cop. he is shot in the head but doesnt die just is in a coma for many many years. when he finally wakes up he becomes a cop. Nay help on what movie this is would be greatly appreciated
