Films about revolutions

Post by nauru »

Anyone able to help build a list of movies about revolutions? I'm particularly interested in 20th century subject matter, although any time period is welcome. Any country, any film style. Thanks! :)

Here's a few off the top of my head:

Battle of Algiers
V for Vendetta
Che
Metropolis
Duck, You Sucker (aka Fistful of Dynamite)
The Battleship Potemkin
Spartacus
Anything about the French revolution

djross wrote:There are collections called "Revolutionary Films," "American War of Independence," and "French Revolution." The first collection in particular may be of interest to you, even if it is a little unclear what it is meant to contain.

"Revolutionary Films" is here: http://www.criticker.com/?fl&coll=6084

Since the collection "Revolutionary Films" includes titles such as

Wall Street
Escape from LA
The Thin Red Line
The Crucible
City of God
Wag the Dog

I think it's safe to say the that the term "revolutionary" in this case refers something other than the political or military kind. Perhaps they are films that the mod of that collection considers "revolutionary" in terms of filmmaking...
