Sisters of the Gion

Post by hotsake »

There is a good story here but it's not told in a very engaging way. Through static shots filled with dialogue scenes you learn about the lives of two sisters who both seek happiness. My biggest complain about this movie and why I could rate this higher was the fact that not a single character, not one, was a likeable or even a decent character. All the male characters are shown to be selfish and petty and the two sister while polar opposites aren't any better. One of the sisters is looking for love and is willing to be a doormat to find it. The other dislikes men but uses them as she feels she is uses as merely a means to an end. Because none of neither of the sisters are particularly likable the ending with features a "woe is me" monologue falls completely flat.
