The Crusades

Tonally I found this very similar to The Adventures of Robin Hood that would come out in 1938. There is a surprising amount of singing and humor sprinkled throughout the movie. King Richard starts off as an arrogant, rude, self righteous asshole but he warms up a bit when he falls in love. The Muslims in this movie were not realistically portrayed in fact very little of this movie is historically accurate. But if you can get past that and see it for the romanticized play that it is it becomes a great action paced epic romance featuring great sets, cinematography and battle scenes.
