Movies and Songs Inseparable from One Another

Post by theficionado »

I'm thinking stuff like:

Reservoir Dogs and "Stuck in the Middle with You"
Chungking Express and "California Dreamin'"
Blood Simple and "It's the Same Old Song"

For me:
The Royal Tenenbaums and "Needle in the Hay"

Just look at my mini-review of "Big and Hairy"

"There are two movies I associate with the song "Stuck in the Middle With You" Reservoir Dogs and this pile of fuming crap, it is a burden I will carry with me for my entire life. This movie made me miss Air Bud it was so bad."

Being made to watch this movie is something I will hold against my wife's little brother forever, even when he becomes an adult. I didn't like shit like "Big and Hairy" when I was a kid.

I've read/watched something about Wai's use of repetition. That's what's causing the interdependent recall.

Casino Royale (1967) - "The Look Of Love"
Cría cuervos - "Por qué te vas"
My Life as a Dog - "Far, jag kan inte få upp min kokosnöt" (original song title "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts")
Brazil - "Brazil"
(non song) Broken Flowers - "Yekermo Sew"
Whisper of the Heart - "Country Roads"

"Casta diva" from Norma is the repetitious song in 2046, but I always think of "Siboney"

Fight Club - "Where is my mind"
O Brother - like, all of it.
Ice Age - "Send Me on My Way"
Shall We Dance - "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off"
Late Night Shopping - "Sunday Shining"
Almost Famous - "Tiny Dancer"
Finding Nemo - "Somewhere, Beyond the Sea"

I haven't seen Top Hat yet, but I'm looking forward to "Cheek to Cheek."

Anyone else getting déjà vu off this thread?
