I was gonna say, that isn't a character, but I checked and, lo and behold, that was a character in some zombie movie called Dead City (2007). Rumor has it he's going to make a cameo in Shrek IV. Finding this out, Quinten Tarentino (no relation since he's real), declined to replace Antonio Banderas (now there's a cool name, but again, not a character) as the voice of the now fat Puss 'n Boots. (There will be no justice for that movie, like mebby, $1.2 mil)

Be all of that as it may be, Tarantino, I'm afraid, flows well, but it isn't all that inherently cool, add in its associations and....

Now, rereading your post I see that I misread it. So which ones in particular? Many cool characters yes, but I just can't think of any such names. I mean, Stuntman Mike, Vincent Vega.....Bill.

George Roy Hill directed films in general have great names. Johnny Hooker, Henry Gondor, Reggie Dunlop, "Killer" Dave Carlson, Kid Twist, just to name a few.

My two favorites:

Sugarpuss O'Shea (Barbara Stanwyck in Ball of Fire)
Ignatz Ratzkywatzky (the unseen bloke who knocked up Trudy Kockenlocker (Betty Hutton) in The Miracle of Morgan's Creek)

Yeah, second the vote for Tarantino. 'Vince Vega' has a cool ring to it.

Rupert Pupkin in "The King of Comedy" (wonderfully mispronounced by everyone throughout the movie)
Chauncey Gardiner in "Being There"
Leggy Mountbatten in "The Rutles"
the names Trucky and Trailer in some old, super shitty teen romp
Mr. Pink in "Resevoir Dogs"
Ian Faith in "Spinal Tap"
Spewie the alien in Chris Elliot's "Get a Life" tv show (ok ok I promise that is the ONLY time I will EVER mention tv again) (I fucking swear)

You realize that's the name of a famous Japanese historical figure, not something creative that a director or writer came uup with?

A completely ordinary, standard Japanese last name, the equivalent of "Jones" in English or something. I get the feeling that if you watched more Japanese films, your entire list would be flooded with them, heh.

according to wikipedia, Kobayashi is the 9th most common Japanese surname.

and yeah Hattori Hanzo was a famous samurai and ninja in the 16th century, not JUST a guy who made cool swords in Kill Bill.
