Hummingbird: Jason Statham as homeless special forces vet. Could be a step up for him.

Who knows? Despite being one of the more magnetic actors around, he's had a very up-down career because he doesn't seem too picky about what he stars in. Safe, his last film, had me wanting to gouge my own eyes out by the end, whereas Statham films like Transporter 3, Crank 2 and London were in many ways brilliant. Hummingbird's director is an unknown so it's anyone's guess whether the film can be decent.

As ever, the number of obviously uninspired sequels in that list is disheartening.

Yes and I've just posted a few more. But this is just the A list stuff and there will eventually be more of them (hopefully a little more interesting) along with whatever upper level indies I can find. But they don't usually surface until closer to their releases. Of what I have up there, I think Gangster Squad, Oz and Oblivion have the most likely story lines. The only sequel I want to see is The Bourne Resolution with both Damon and Renner. I almost liked Legacy the best. "What's he got down there?". "A rifle......  ........a high powered rifle." Can't think of that movie without thinking of that scene.

I hope you meant Transporter 2, which was indeed brilliant, and not the abortion that was the third.

Anyways, the problem isn't that Statham accepts roles too easily. It's a matter of the action genre being completely and utterly dead in Hollywood, and there not being enough roles for anyone, be they Statham, Jet Li, or George Clooney.

Well the remake of Total Recall was pretty rad. Hopefully they remake Demolition Man next. And Stargate. Also Dune but with more action more emphasis on action and also more emphasis on production design to make the harvesters, windtraps and other massive infrastructure look awesome. A remake of Blade Runner is in order as well.

Also I'm not saying they should remake Moonraker because the original is possibly too amazing and I'm not sure Jaws is still around (such an awesome character, Jaws)... but the next bond film really needs to take place in outer space, with lasers!

I'm sorry nauru, but remaking Blade Runner would be absolute sacrilege. Just no. And while I'm a kinder Bond fan than most to Moonraker, outer space is most definitely not the direction Bond should be moving towards.

I'm pretty sure you're being sarcastic and "taking the piss", contrary what the poster above believes. But I'm not certain.

Hey, I loved Moonraker and thought it was a damn good action film.

Actually I'm being honest with my post. I would be happy to watch a remake of any of the films I listed, and I genuinely enjoyed the new Total Recall. I don't consider Blade Runner to be sacred or anything; I thought it was a very good science fiction film. Even the worst remake in history wouldn't change that. Plus there's a chance that I'll really enjoy the remake, like I did with Total Recall.

Moonraker is my favourite Bond film, in part because it's completely mad. Given a choice between moving toward "gritty realism" and "unbelievably diabolical plot being foiled in an awesomely stylish, larger-than-life and outlandish way", I'd rather the Bond franchise move in the latter direction. :)

Huh.

That last statement is true, but Hollywood is no longer able to make movies like Blade Runner. For a number of reasons. You won't see a movie like that for the foreseeable future.

Yes, I agree and feel the same way, as you can tell from my posts in the Bond topic. I just thought the first half of your post was clearly tongue-in-cheek, so that your statement about Moonraker meant you actually hated it.

But yes, it's my third-favorite Bond film as well, and good for all the reasons you mentioned.

Just some thoughts on 2013 films:
I'll probably see Gangster Squad, but with low expectations. I like the genre and a lot of the actors involved, but some of the things from the trailer rub me the wrong way. Like the fact that I want to kill little kittens when I hear Gosling say, "No Ma'am I was just hoping to take you to bed".

And what in the actual fuck is Movie 43? From the trailers it looks like a damn mess. Lets throw a bunch of actors in one comedy film with shit and dick jokes. Sounds like a winner. No idea what some respectable actors are doing in this film. I'm looking at you Kate Winslet.

For some reason I want to see John Dies at the End. I'm not usually a fan of horror films, but the fact that Paul Giamatti is both starring and producing this has me intrigued. Trailer:
