Re: Upcoming in 2016
Looks a lot more promising than what 2015 had to offer. Most interested in the Herzog feature, but that's because I somehow managed to watch very little or nothing from most of the big names on that list.
Also, the plot from Silence of Scorcese is intriguing:
"In the seventeenth century, two Jesuit priests face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity."

Family Photos (Mungiu, 2016)
Hail, Caesar! (Coen brothers, 2016)
The House That Jack Built (von Trier, 2016, TV series)
Knight of Cups (Malick, 2015)
Love (Noé, 2015)
Love and Friendship (Stillman, 2016)
Manchester-by-the-Sea (Lonergan, 2016)
Maniac Cop (Hyams, 2017?)
Midnight Special (Nichols, 2016)
My Golden Days (Desplechin, 2015)
The Neon Demon (Refn, 2016)
On the Milky Road (Kusturica, 2016)
The One-Way Ride (Bishop, 2016)
Paris est une fête (Bonello, 2016)
The Pearl Button (Guzmán, 2015)
Salt and Fire (Herzog, 2016)
Silence (Scorsese, 2016)
Silencio (Almodóvar, 2016)
Slack Bay (Dumont 2016)
Twin Peaks (Lynch, 2017, TV series)
Voyage of Time (Malick, 2016)
The Young Pope (Sorrentino, 2016)
Youth (Sorrentino, 2015)
Of these, I probably have the greatest hope for the stuff by von Trier, Noé, Bonello, Guzmán, Dumont, the Lynch series and the Malick documentary, but am also quite curious about the stuff by Lonergan, Nichols and Refn.
Thanks for the list. Hail Caesar sounds promising except for the plot. And after To the Wonder, I'm not holding my breath for Malick to produce, much less to produce it on time. And where the hell is Silence going, or Midnight Special? You'd think they'd put up more than a short one sentence, posterless synopsis. It's like here's the director, here's the cast, now get your butt in the theater. Yeah, I know they'll do more eventually, but this is dismissive.

I was looking forward to that Allman Brothers movie for 2016 but I guess that'll never be completed now.

Yes, might be the first straight up comedy in many years that actually works. It'll be Crowe's second attempt at it since the A Good Year disaster 10 years ago. I'm predicting that this will be excellent (hell the trailer is excellent, I love the one in the pool, one on the sidewalk bit ) and a hit, but the sequel won't.
