That's neat(!), I need to see Frances Ha. It's like she's letting you in.

your voice is especially good in this one, i think.

In some cases, motivated camera movements make me feel imbecile. For me, they put me/the viewer in a position of infancy. They dictate and impose a special, desired feeling on behalf of the viewer. They emphasize, underline, establish that desired effect. And I sense it. I am not saying that all of those are so crude or meaningless. After all, this is the point of story telling. But it easily becomes conventional, classical and then lazy way of telling a story.

My moment of realising this as a viewer was the horrible The Hunger Games (2012). There was a scene in which camera was childishly following the hands of actors touching each other in order to establish a kind of affection with each other -I don't remember why, maybe before a dangerous move. For me, that was a bad way of telling a story -though may be effective for an action movie. I would rather put the camera in the other end of the room, without pan, tilt, or shaking -stable and a broad view. That would be a rather Ozu directing an action movie...

My favorite was always this one:

I think it's partially a zoom as well as a movement, but whatever.

Agree.

Although I certainly haven't watched all of your vids, Brickwall, I really liked this one. I think really honing in on one particular detail that you wish to discuss keeps your focus and narrative extremely tight. That may be stating the obvious, but it helped make this video bloody good.

Hey you spoiled the ending of Frances Ha! Jk, nice job, I never noticed that detail and I should really re-watch that movie at least once considering it's one of my favs.
