Studio Backlot Tours

This topic might be more appropriate for a travel forum but I wanted to specifically hear the opinions of people whose taste and experiences with film are similar to mine. Has anyone here ever done one of the studio backlot tours in Los Angeles (or elsewhere in the world?) and if so, which one? What were your thoughts? Are they just tourist traps are do they actually provide a worthwhile experience for cinephiles like those on this site?

I did the Paramount tour in LA a few months ago. It was interesting but still I got the overall sense that they could have made it much better.
