Mondo Candido - 0 ratings
It's sad that this film is so underrated and so hard to find. It's like the best films of Fellini. Watch it if you have a chance!
Horrors of Malformed Men - 1 rating
Great mixture of Japanese drama, horror and Jodorowsky-like weirdness.
I Will Walk Like A Crazy Horse - 2 ratings
Another one for Jodorowsky fans.
An Ambiguous Report About the End of the World - 2 ratings
Great film by one of the best East European directors - Juraj Jakubisko. In style a little similar to Kusturica.
Genesis - 3 ratings
Unique mixture of gore and arthouse film.
Mystics in Bali - 3 ratings
Never before I've heard people in cinema laughing so loud. Must see for every bad films lover.

The Search - 1 ranking
Directed by Fred Zinnemann, a simple yet powerful story of a mothers search for her son in post-war Berlin. Wonderful performances from Montgomery Clift, Jarmila Novotna and especially 11 year old Ivan Jandl (won a special juvenile award at the oscars)
An Inspector Calls - 1 ranking
Based on a play, Inspector Poole confronts the Birling family as to their involvement in the death of a young woman. An interesting mystery with some nice twists and pointed social commentary.

Here's a few suggestions for open minded, adventurous folks.

SALON KITTY http://www.criticker.com/?f=13741
Tinto Brass, the legendary filmmaker with a fixation on the female backside, brings you a Nazi and prostitute extravaganza. Featuring the talents of production designer Ken Adam, who worked on James Bond and Kubrick movies.

WHO ARE YOU, POLLY MAGGOO? http://www.criticker.com/?f=21071
I like this more each time I see it. You could look at it as a satire of the fashion industry, but I'd much rather just view it as the visually stimulating fantasy that it is. Easily among the funnest movies I was fortunate enough to discover. FitFortDanga's review sums it up well.

SNAKE DANCER http://www.criticker.com/?f=22331
A biopic about the South African exotic dancer Glenda Kemp that is bursting with cheese, disco, and skin. Watch it as a double feature with The Notorious Bettie Page for two (mostly) true stories about women who took it all off and had to deal with censorship.

VARIETY http://www.criticker.com/?f=22089
A woman takes a job at the ticket booth of at an adult theatre and starts to become obsessed with porn. She disturbs her boyfriend by describing sex movies like she was reading a sleazy romance novel. Nice cinematography.

BIZARRE http://www.criticker.com/?f=13780
Stylish, colorful, and utterly nonsensical softcore/art movie. It's strangeness may test the patience of some, but there's plenty of nudity and puzzling content for those who like an "out there" movie experience. The director, Anthony Balch, worked with William S. Burroughs on short films and the 60s version of Häxan.

BLUEBEARD http://www.criticker.com/?f=17919
Richard Burton is a Nazi with a blue beard, and a tendency to kill off the women he gets involved with and store them in a freezer. The cast is full of hot actresses, including Raquel Welch as a nun with an alarming sexual history, and Sybil Danning. Music by Ennio Morricone.

VAMPYRES http://www.criticker.com/?f=13740
My favorite lesbian vampire movie. I was bored by Franco's Vampyros Lesbos, and while Daughters of Darkness is more stylish, Vampyres has a certain vibe that grabbed me right away. The ladies are high quality, which helps. (NOTE: The movie makes very little sense, so don't get pissed if you decide to watch this. Just a warning for those of you who are picky about such things.)

QUIET DAYS IN CLICHY http://www.criticker.com/?f=14513
Visually appealing, raunchy screen adaption of the Henry Miller book that's sort of like an Avant-Garde music video/softcore sex movie.

A few nights ago I watched Odds Against Tomorrow. I've seen it referred to a lot as late-cycle film noir, but it's really just a heist film with heavy emphasis on character. Addresses several taboo subjects for the time, like race and sexuality, but it's not sentimental.

Forbidden Lies: The less you know going in, the better it'll be. A movie about an author who wrote a best-selling book about the demise of a friend at the hands of an oppressive fundmentalist society turns into a mind-bending study about the perils of documentary filmmaking and the impossibility of arriving at a coherent version of the truth. Recommended especially for fans of Capturing the Friedmans or My Kid Could Paint That!

Audience of One: Director Michael Jacobs transplants the Icarus myth to a San Fran congregation and depicts one man's plummet to Earth for his presumptuousness in getting too close to God. It feels like Waiting For Guffman -- a collection of people who never realize their cinematic vision remains outside the reach of their talents. Yet Jacobs doesn't exploit his subjects: The project's grand ambition evokes a sense of admiration, and the film's final image elicits a feeling of empathy greater than its subject probably deserves.

Citizen Duane. Apparently I really am the only person on Criticker who's seen it. Pity because it made me laugh my ass right off.

One I didn't mention before because I don't think I had submitted it at the time I made that post, and is one of the best little-known movies I've seen. In fact, I appear to be the only one who's rated it yet which comes as a surprise considering there's a hilarious John Waters cameo in it.
