For me the problem I have with lists like this is that they generally don't have a good foundation for why any placements exist, even if we assume someone has seen every film in a certain category in existence. If you're to list to me the best Lynch films; for example, what value is there in making this list to begin with if all you want to say is "I like this movie more than the other?" What is the foundation of your placements beyond your arbitrary whim? Generally lists make more sense if there's objective criteria to function off of, and even then I don't think they're horribly interesting beyond the novelty of numbers.

but for realsies, The Big Night (1951) was fun. tho not quite the noiriest noir. made by joseph losey (the go-between, the servant).
