hi
is that me or do everyone get dozens & even hundreds of films when searching for films with some popular words
can there be precise search (like googles "film_name" ) so you get only 1 film (or several, but not 500 as in my last search) or year be added to narrow the search down
regards.
[addition] and search by imdb could be made allowing all sorts of combinations

Yeah, the search functionality is something we hope to totally overhaul someday soon. You're right that searches with very common words (like "devil") should stop after like... 100 results.

Why should it stop? The results are paginated anyway ...mpowell wrote:searches with very common words (like "devil") should stop after like... 100 results.

Re: to improve search
today i found out that punctuation marks matter when searching
not sure that it is a good idea...
i printed Mission Impossible and got 3 results. none of them were related to relevant action movies
later i discovered that the title has ":" in it
Mission: Impossible
so with colon everything is being searched well.

Thanks for reporting this! We notice the same thing... the colon seems not to play well with our search. We've filed a bug to improve this, and will let you know once it's working!

great.
what about the first issue with multiple results and common worlds?
undoubtedly a much bigger issue
as a remedy - search by imdb id could be implemented (as long as all movies/series are required to have it)

Way to sort results by release year and/or exclude words from search
Suggest:
1) Way to sort results by release year
2) Exclude words from search
Personally, that would solve my search problems, I think.
Most often I am looking for a recent released film with a common word in the title like "snow". I then get pages of obscure results. If I could place the most recently released at the top of the results that would likely solve it.
Knocking out incorrect results by adding "-XXXXXXX" would also help.. So "devil -inside -devils" stops 'Devil Inside' & 'The Devils'
from cluttering up the results when they arent the film I'm looking for.
---------------------------------------------
PS. Is this post showing up?
A week ago, I spent an hour+ reading thru feature request & bug report threads & chipping in with my suggestions. NONE of my contributions ahow up when I search for 'Yours Posts' or 'New Posts' in forum. That is sad. Hope they didnt all fall down an electronic black hole.
ADDED LATER: Yeah it looks like they all did - tip for any new users write ONE post to forums and wait for it to appear BEFORE you write any more. That'll save you a lot of pointless typing
