A very minor problem
This is a very minor issue, which I only bring to your attention because it has existed for several months. The problem involves the "All Your Rankings" screen. There is supposed to be a heading above each tier "Tier 10 films," etc. But there is never such a heading for Tier 7, even though it seems pretty clear that Tier 7 has a specific start point (Tier 8 would be my films scoring 80; Tier 7 my films scoring 75; Tier 6 my films scoring 70—the number of films I have given 80, 75 and 70 would seem to fit the tier structure in this way). Very trivial I know, but I figured you'd probably prefer to know. Thanks.

The Criticker engine divides your rankings like that because it putting your 75 movies into Tier 8 is actually closer to the ideal 10%-in-each-tier system than putting it in the now non-existant Tier 7. I suggest you try to differentiate more in your 70-80 range so that it has more ways to divide your films. I'm pretty sure you'll find that your recommendations actually get better when you do this.

Quicky is right on target... this is a function of the way the film rankings are split into Tiers. It's not necessarily a bug (in that, it's working as designed), but we do see room for improvement in the design. There is a bug open to investigate ways to make the scores spread more evenly amongst tiers.
Basically, what's happening is that Criticker tries to split your films amongst ten tiers. Because all rankings with the same score must belong to the same tier, scores that would straddle tiers employ a "tie-breaker" system to determine the "winning" tier. In your case, score 75 leans a little bit more heavily towards Tier 8, and score 70 leans towards tier 6. So, nothing ends up in Tier 7.
That's the explanation but, again, we know there is room for this system to be improved. The improvement would come in making the "tie-breaking" system more cognizant of the contents of other tiers.
Hope this suffices for now!

Re: A very minor problem
Hi. Thanks for the reply/explanation. It doesn't completely surprise me that the answer was to do with the way the tiers get divided. But that does mean that my tiers are like this:
Tier 10: 132 films Score: 90 - 100
Tier 9: 119 films Score: 85
Tier 8: 304 films Score: 75 - 80
Tier 7: 0 films
Tier 6: 192 films Score: 70
Whereas, if the tiers separated out 75 and 80 the tiers would be:
Tier 10: 132 films Score: 90 - 100
Tier 9: 119 films Score: 85
Tier 8: 145 films Score: 80
Tier 7: 159 films Score: 75
Tier 6: 192 films Score: 70
Which seems to make more sense, intuitively. I understand that mathematically, given that I rank 1614 films, the break between Tiers 7 and 8 should occur at 484 films from the top, so to speak, whereas the move from a score of 80 to a score of 75 occurs at 393 films from the top. Which I take it is what prompts Criticker to exclude Tier 7 altogether. Even so, it does seem like the improvement you're speaking of would make sense. So I look forward to the implementation of that change somewhere down the track. Thanks again.
