Markup not recognised on Forums page

I tried to post a reply to a thread, but when I posted it, the markup language was not converted to formatting. To illustrate:
Here's some text I've tried to format using the buttons provided.
In fact it looks like posts using markups disappeared from the forums altogether.

Here's my recent post in which I've used some
brackets viewtopic.php?p=69377#p69377

Gone.

Yeah, this happened with an upgrade to some backed software. We'll be looking into it very soon!!

Sorry about this issue!

After several 100 of reviews, I'm sure I know that button, yep :)
And activating that button at this moment gives you an error message "Your message contains too few characters."

I see that it has been four months since I reported this issue. Hopefully it can be rectified soon.

I don't know how close the admins are to fixing this/updating the forums, but can I suggest a note somewhere prominent to the effect of "[technical difficulties] may result in some posts disappearing in whole or part. Will be fixed soon etc".

I suggest this because: i) the regular occurrence of new threads relating to this issue indicates even some of the site's most senior users don't bother reading bug threads when posting a new bug in the bug forum; ii) the forum gets a lot of referrals from google results, i.e. from non-users who in most cases certainly wouldn't be checking the bug forum to see why the post(s) relevant to their interests remain partially or completely blanked out.
