Forgive my ignorance, but aren't "True Grit" and "Black Swan" coming out very late this year? A definite shame if we have to wait until 2011 to check them out.

shog - he mentioned that some "may be released in 2010"

djr - many thanks for posting this, it's awesome and something i love seeing. that being said, i was wondering if you can give a brief (1 sentence) description of the plot so that I (we) don't have to Google each film.

Yeah, my mistake in reading poorly. What can I say; it has been an incredibly draining last week or so.

I will second this; a fine topic, but there are quite a few films here that I know nothing about.

A fine list, to which I would add Blue Valentine.

Good list.

Lunatic at Large Based on manuscript Kubrick wrote before he died. Starring Sam Rockwell and Scarlett Johansson. Currently pegged for 2012 but can hope. "Set in New York in 1956, it tells the story of Johnnie Sheppard, an ex-carnival worker with serious anger-management issues, and Joyce, a nervous, attractive barfly he picks up in a Hopperesque tavern scene. There’s a newsboy who flashes a portentous headline, a car chase over a railroad crossing with a train bearing down, and a romantic interlude in a spooky, deserted mountain lodge. The great set piece is a nighttime carnival sequence in which Joyce, lost and afraid, wanders among the tents and encounters a sideshow’s worth of familiar carnie types: the Alligator Man, the Mule-Faced Woman, the Midget Monkey Girl, the Human Blockhead, with the inevitable noggin full of nails."

The World's End (Edgar Wright) Conclusion to the blood and ice-cream trilogy. Another pegged for 2012 but still hopeful.

Biutiful (Alejandro González Iñárritu) Premiered in 2010 but with a limited release in December for USA, I probably won't get to see this till 2011 being Australian (doubtful it'll be on the net quickly. "This is a story of a man in free fall. On the road to redemption, darkness lights his way. Connected with the afterlife, Uxbal is a tragic hero and father of two who's sensing the danger of death. He struggles with a tainted reality and a fate that works against him in order to forgive, for love, and forever."

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (Terry Gilliam) 2011 "An advertising executive jumps back and forth in time between 21st century London and 17th century La Mancha, where Don Quixote mistakes him for Sancho Panza."

Forgot about The Illusionist (Chomet). I've been looking forward to this one for years now.

There are some great looking films on that list.

Kind of looking forward to Gondry's The Green Hornet, which comes out in Jan 2011 I think? Just interested to see how Gondry doing a big action flick turns out!?

Probably not well. The trailer looked awful.

I didn't like the trailer either. But will probably watch as it has Christoph Waltz.
