That's how it always goes.
Well I think there has to be a point in cinephile's life where there aren't many notable directors to add anymore. With my actual list I'm already slowly running out of names. Or will my list be populated with notable Sudanese New Wave directors somwhere in 2018?

My old list is on the previous page so I'm not going to repost it, but here's those filmmakers from that list that I've seen films from in the last three years:
Howard Hawks (Seen the most from him, a total of 4, which run the gamut from great to terrible) Robert Bresson (Two excellent films) David Lean (The Bridge on the River Kwai was great. Still have yet to watch Lawrence of Arabia; its colossal running time makes it hard when you're always busy/not in the mood like I've been. Explains my recent ratings.) John Huston Robert Altman (Two films, both mediocre) Krzysztof Kieslowski Todd Haynes (Boring) Alexander Payne (Mediocre) Ming-liang Tsai
Trying to compile a new list would be overwhelming. There's just too many damn directors!
louis malle elaine may masaki kobayashi jacques rivette lina wertmuller emir kusturica ming-liang tsai ernst lubitsch apichatpong weerasethakul
i love malle, rivette and kusturica. i loved the one film i've seen by kobayashi. i was indifferent about the one film i saw by tsai. weerasethakul is quite interesting.
i have not yet seen elaine may or lina wertmuller because their films aren't available to loan/rent. suppose i'll download them.
there are plenty more tat i'd like to see obviously, but those are the ones that right now feel like big gaps that i need to fix.
here are some others that i know i should see at some point but honestly am not expecting that much:
ang lee steve mcqueen michael mann william wyler luc besson bryan singer elia kazan george cukor clint eastwood spike lee
and so on and so forth.
i saw something by the two lees, mcqueen and eastwoood, and they all sucked, as expected.
anyway i'll post a long list here to keep track of:

Underrated director from Austria-Hungary probably best known for the great Sissi trilogy but involved with dozens of other films, only a few of which are on here.

Well that's impressive! You've ranked only 725 films, and yet the only "notable" missing director on your list is some tremendously obscure Austrian-Hungarian fellow whose most popular film here has a whopping 90 rankings.
Quite a list. I'm specially terrible when it comes to French directors. From the TSPDT top 250:
Jean Renoir (I only watched A day in the country) Dziga Vertov Hou Hsiao-hsien Jacques Tati Bernardo Bertolucci Marcel Carné Preston Sturges Wim Wenders Erich von Stroheim Douglas Sirk Claude Lanzmann Chantal Akerman Jean-Pierre Melville Gillo Pontecorvo Elia Kazan Jacques Rivette William Wyler (!!!!!) Jean Eustache Claire Denis Robert Flaherty King Vidor Jean-Marie Straub & Danièle Huillet Jean Cocteau Glauber Rocha Abel Gance Fei Mu Jane Campion Michael Cimino Andrzej Wajda Raoul Walsh Mike Leigh Frederick Wiseman Merian C. Cooper & Ernest B. Schoedsack (the directors of King Kong, apparently) Maurice Pialat Ousmame Sembene Robert Wise Louis Malle G.W. Pabst King Hu Humphrey Jennings Jia Zhangke Djibril Drop Mambéty George Stevens Jean Rouch Shohei Imamura Joseph Losey Peter Watkins Bob Fosse John Woo Peter Bogdanovich Tomás Gutiérrez Alea Lindsay Anderson Leni Riefenstahl Frank Borzage Ken Russell Charles Burnett Albert Maysles, David Maysles & Charlotte Zwerin Oliver Stone John Schlesinger Guru Dutt Mel Brooks Peter Greenaway Jonas Mekas Pedro Costa D.A. Pennebaker Louis Feuillade Jonathan Demme Francesco Rosi John Hughes John Frankenheimer Bob Rafelson Jerry Lewis Alan J. Pakula Philip Kaufman Rouben Mamoulian
Adding Baz Luhrmann, Olivier Assayas, Leo Carax, François Ozon, Jacques Feyder, Bertrand Bonnello, Nanni Moretti, Paolo Sorrentino, Sergio Corbucci, Mario Monicelli, Franco Zeffirelli, Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci, Gabriele Salvatores, Gianni Amelio, Xavier Dolan, Denis Villenueve, Naomi Kawase, Yoshihige Yoshida, Kaneto Shindo, Sion Sono, Seijun Suzuki, Juzo Itami, Heinosuke Gosho, Hong Sang-soo, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, Alexander Kluge, Volker Schlöndorf, Raúl Ruiz, Dennis Hopper, Barbet Schroeder, Michael Bay (for some reason I have always avoided him. Not sure if it's a good or bad decision), Cecil B. DeMille, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Lisandro Alonso; Andrzej Zulawski, István Szabó, Zoltán Fábri, Rithy Panh, Andrei Konchalovsky, Amos Gitai, Tran Anh Hung, Karel Kachyna, Otakar Vávra...
