That was actually one of the aspects I liked. People change over time. Rise and fall.

Leia was a fierce fighter woman and she has become practically a female Dumbledore. Luke was a passionate guy. His passion was actually the drive of the first three films. Now he's become a soulless shell.

Yeah, sure they were better in the originals. None of them despite circumstances were given good exits or deaths within the trilogy. Solo was predictable as the old man archetype in Force Awakens. Luke went the route of Yoda in The Last Jedi and knew he had given all he could to ensure the future of the Galaxy was in good hands.

Leia was not given any sort of send-off and in my opinion her using the force in Space was one of the worst scenes the trilogy has offered up yet. I just don't see a viable way to give this character any semblance of finality. I know Carrie Fishers passing was tragic and unforseen but there had to be a better way to handle this on screen to pay respects to all she has done for the Saga.

Also I'm not interested in money or the bussiness side of the films.

They gave us enough and the more they are around the more they are ruined. We don't need to see Leia kicking C3PO or a ghost Qui-Gon story.

The end product ended by being exactly what I imagined it would be. Fan service to try and justify the bad decisions made by Rian Johnson in the Last Jedi. What would have served for a better conclusion was finding ways to make the things that seemed out of place in LJ work better for the universe. The whole force healing thing was a conveniently placed troupe that was able to be placed squarely in this movie with no context thanks to it being made cannon in the Mandalorian.

Every big return was downright cheesy. Mark Hamill was given more screen time in this film than the last one and it was not needed. Plus what the hell was with a ghost stopping a physical object. That had to be one of the most cringe worthy scenes in cinematic history.

Adam Driver deserved a better conclusion for his character as they played it safe and went the predictable route and it didn't really suit Driver's talents and the trajectory of the character up until this point. Carrie Fisher deserved a better send off as opposed to previously shot scenes being chopped up and inserted to try and conclude her narrative. Clearly their were thoughts about ending her narrative in LJ but they didn't do it.

I thought the set pieces were amazing of all things including the debris from the original Death Star and the look and feel of Endegol. Someone presented an idea that this like many ending installments to major franchises should have been broken down into two parts. That probably could have allowed for more growth and less feeling like every major plot device was done and undone just to have the wow factor of saying it was "unpredictable".
