the tiers for the user imdb

Post by KasperL »

Hi,

I love the fact that somebody has taken the time to rate almost 57.000 titles according to their IMDb-score (user: imdb), as this means that I can see this score directly from Criticker, alongside the ratings from my kumpels.

However, there is something majorly off about the tiers for this user.

https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=75 (78 - tier 7)
https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=175 (74 - tier 4)
https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=200 (73 - tier 3)
https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=247 (71 - tier 1)
https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=248 (71 - tier 8!)
https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=400 (67 - tier 6)

Thanks for pointing this out! Not sure what happened with this guy, but we've recalculated the tiers on the account, and I think things are looking better now.

There's still something very weird going on with the tiers:
https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=239

I haven't seen this for any other user, but I suspect that very few, if any, has as many ratings :)

The link above (at least in my end) shows that movies with a score of 72 belongs to tier 2. And for some reason, 3 movies with a score of 71 - $21 a Day Once a Month, Старики разбойники and 'night Mother - are included in tier 2 on this page as well.

Then a good chunk of movies with at score of 71 is in tier 1, until suddenly, however, this happens:
https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=247 (tier 1)
https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=248 (tier 8 cont.)

Hmm... that's odd. All the scores of 71 appear light-green to me. Maybe it was fixed before I had a chance to look!

How weird. movieboy's post from earlier today seems to have disappeared...

The shifting colors appear between https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=240 and https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=271 by the way.

But, of course, the main problem, which renders an otherwise very useful Kumpel completely useless, is that a lot of the user's rating is assigned with a wrong tier.

Nice work. My bet is that that's because the site uses percentiles when someone who's not logged in browses the site.

By the way... Mpowell, for troubleshooting purposes I just doublechecked something, and all of the green scores are in tier 8 on the movie pages, while the red ones are in tier 1.

Let's try to get to the bottom of this conundrum :)

Mike, when using an account that uses tiers, not percentages, do you get tier one here?
https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=247

And tier 8 here?
https://www.criticker.com/ratings/imdb/?p=248
