Summary: Rita is fifteen and this explains a lot. The full-fledged adolescent spends the long, hot summer days with her best friend Sara, doing the usual things people that age do: hairdos to fix and undo, code names to make up for each other, and of course someone to fall head over heels in love with. But instead of the usual high school classmate, the object of her palpitations is a forty-year-old photographer who just inaugurated an exhibit about Melanesia. (Torino Film Festival)
Summary: Xavier inherits an old house from his grand-uncle and decides to move his family from the comforts of the city to the small Portuguese countryside for a change of scenery. Once there many strange things begin to occur that may or may not be due to a supernatural presence in the house. Finally, when his oldest son Rui arrives at the house, things take a turn for the worse.
Summary: During one night, a Portuguese teenager, Alvaro, loses his life in a fight between a youth gang and the cops in a suburb of Paris. She losses her friends, her job and her family but gains a life.
Summary: Dalila is a middle-age, married woman who is still attractive, too attractive, for her rural husband - who is proud to show her off, but awfully jealous of her. Her trips to the capital to see a doctor (she thinks she has breast cancer) put her in contact with flashy clothes, and shoes, and then she goes wild. She will lead a young truck driver into lust, and worse sins, as Dalila progresses from white shoes to red shoes, and then, fatal black shoes.
Summary: Young Jesus is taken on a vacation by his parents to a deserted beach resort. They accidentally fall into overnight wealth after Jesus digs in the sand, uncovering a large drug stash. Others characters intersecting here include an alcoholic actress, a philandering banker, a general trafficking in arms, priests who close their church and head north as hitchhikers, politicians who watch an all-girl production of Julius Caesar, and beggars who recite a children's story in a huge heap of trash.
Summary: Maria is a sweet child. She has no father and does not like her mother. She has a boyfriend who is a bandit who would like to change his class. There are two more bandits: a very tall singer and a guy who is a very short and a full of life's experiences. Neither of these two do much thinking, one even less than the other.
