This is a French TV film based on the often-studied short novel by Colette more or less based on the writer's own autumn years. The meditative film feels a bit like a French Enchanted April as Colette (Delorme) spends her afternoons in the countryside of Saint Tropez writing outside about her transient attempts to love over the years, only to find her romantic yearnings awakened by the arrival of the younger Vial, who apparently has a severe aversion to shirts.
