"The whole time I was trying to figure out how Jack's dialogue was written; by A.I., by a drug-addled poet, by accident? Inconclusive, but I didn't have enough time to think about it between laughs. The timing of everything, the responses, the unpredictability of Jack's gesticulation and "dialogue"; it's just...great."

"Oscar Isaac was so good portraying the technocratic billionaire and sociopath, Nathan, that much of the movie's tension is built up in the otherwise normal interactions between himself and Caleb. I found that the real meat of the story is in those scenes, but then there's the treat of AVA, who is a marvel of VFX and herself part sympathetic and part terrifying. The story is nothing shocking, but enjoyable nonetheless."

"The acting is hit-or-miss throughout and the pacing of the dialogue really does not sell these characters as real people. It's just sub-par writing. There are several moments where character reactions do not match the tone of the scene or the situation at hand, which can often break the tension in unintended ways. That being said, it does still manage to build tension just enough to keep you watching. Overall, it's worth a watch, even if it's ultimately underwhelming."

"I mean, it's fine, but there's something about Leto that just escapes his characters and oozes pretension. I think this short also fails to really convey why the council would realistically be convinced, or even strong-armed, into going along with Wallace's proposal by his theatrics."
