"I was disappointed with this movie having come to expect a certain narrative style from Miyazaki's film. His films transport you to wonderful and magic places, but they also tell coherent stories with beautiful messages. While this movie might have a beautiful message, it is unmistakably his most abstract outing yet. I am not allergic to art films, but I never go into a Miyazaki film expecting to be confused. A second watching of this might make me change my opinion at a later point."

"I have more or less the same problems with this one as with part one. Weak acting, poor line delivery, obnoxious blockbuster music and sound effects (and really repetitive too!), lackluster character development, weird pacing. Only part that kinda had me in awe was the worm-riding scene – that one kinda took my breath away. Otherwise, while not exactly being an insult to the source material, Villeneuve hasn't proven to be the messiah that can perfectly translate the book to film – far from it."

"As breathtaking as the visuals and the cinematography are, overall the Dune films (part 1 and 2) just don't do the book justice. I don't think any of the actors cast for this film are bad actors, but I don't think they're well directed. Many lines are delivered in desperate whispers even though whispering is completely unnecessary, and Jessica cries all the goddamn time. Visually the most impressive Villeneuve films, but the story rings hollow."

"It's not very well written, the characters do stupid things and it has major tonal issues, but it was at least somewhat entertaining and not a complete waste of time. Enter the fucking Flintstones Kids, however, and I lost my patience. I couldn't finish it."
