"Anno resets all character development in the middle of a movie series for no actual payoff or seemingly real reason. He then uses this reset to obtusely raise questions instead of answering anything. A 5 minute piano duet scene isn't character development, so Kaworu is as underdevleoped and boiled down to Yaoi bait as he was in the original tv show. Also the animation budget seems to be blown in the 1st action scene. The 2nd action scene is mostly poor CGI and the next hour is all hallways."

"Sheds the notion that it's a tv show and feels more like an actual movie. The movies are definitely more action focused and lighter on the themes and symbolism (there's still a lot of visual symbolism don't worry) but I always found Hideaki Anno's writing as very strong action smothered by a farting philosophy degree so this is fantastic for me. Rei continues to have a great arc in the film series and Asuka is a highlight. The movie cut down on some backstory for time but the animation is sweet"

"Man what a weird movie. When it's not making dated (and I cant stress enough how dated) pop culture references and just being a love letter to Scooby Doo it works. It's sweet and silly and nostalgic. When it attempts to be a marvel movie interjected into a script from 2008 that was caked with dust it's just bizarre. Spoiler alert, a character goes to hell in this movie. Like just try and guess who. Can you? Or is your brain incapable of registering that as an actual plot point."

"Shinji is still whiny as ever and really does drag down the story by being potentially too flawed of a protagonist. A weird predicament sure. The rest of the supporting cast is solid and the animation is as beautiful as ever. The movie is an attempt at condensing the first 8 episodes and it benefits Rei by only showing the parts that matter and making her stronger cause of it. It still lives in the shadow of it's hype, as the show doesn't really pick up till right after the movie ends."

"When a protagonist is so stupid, and so willing to bend over for love, why should i care. Those people annoy me in real life and in movies, usually someones life is on the line, so it makes the issue 10x worse. Mix in your laughably dumb protagonist with an even deeper "I'm 14 and this is deep" dialog. The animation is shitty, with so many photos used instead of drawings. Also what a horrible way to portray split personalities. It's not even that it's offensive, its just a tired cliche"

"I guess if you want one really pretty action scene set in the rain, book ended by no characterization and "I'm 14 and this is deep" talk about philosophy . This movie was made for you. It really tries to use confusion and tone to carry itself, but it just makes the movie feel like it's distracting you from how empty it is. At least the animation doesn't feel like a mid 00's anime."

"Continues to be a fantastic fantasy version of "Always Sunny in Philly", the humor is laugh out loud funny and surprising. Jokes and punchlines aren't predictable. Animation of the battle and the effects are great. Character development for Megumin and Yunyun nicely compliments the show and really helps give the movie an emotional arc. Just an all in all funny good movie."

"Condensing one of the longer Dragon Quest Games into a 1hr 40 minute movie is no easy feat, especially when you tack on a, "unique" subplot" , and this movie sure falters for it. Story moves too fast to really settle on any side character and lots of the plot feels unnecessary in return. Surprisingly the dialog is decently written and most of the jokes land, the animation is also really beautiful and was able to barely keep my entertainment throughout the movie."

"A "dark" comedy that is shot so bland and whose comedy is so sparse it's hard to call this anything but a made for tv american remake. You watch a couple's marriage fall apart for 90 minutes, the movie tries to make each parent equally shitty, meaning we hate the two main characters. Every side character gets barely enough screentime to make me wish the movie was about them. "

"It's a fun Guy Ritchie movie that places fun of the characters and performance over a well paced or well thought out story. If you've seen older Guy Richie films, it has all his hallmark. McConaughey and Hugh Grant really elevate the movie every time they're on screen. Fun watch, if you're a Guy Ritchie fan its a must see, others should watch when looking for something to stream. "
