"While I'm not a huge Pokemon fan, I think this film does pretty well in paying a lot of fan service and just playing "spot the Pokemon" is quite fun in itself. The story might be a little too mature for kids (also very meh and troupe-y), but there are enough laughs and cuteness around to keep them entertained. Having said that, it's all about Ryan Reynolds' charming, fast-mouthed, sassy voice-character work that works so well here and makes the film."

"Expected a lot more from this one. While the cast is terrific, and the film does a lot to recreate the Ocean's series fun, it lacks the tension, the thrill, the excitement. Everything is a little too perfect and at no stage do you think they will fail, thus taking a little bit out of the film as a viewer. The reveal is fine but not as impactful as they thought it would be. I did enjoy the nods to the original series, that they had scattered in the film."

"It's as good as a finale that an MCU fan could hope for. Epic, emotional and exciting, there's probably not enough iterations to describe this film. Multiple viewings are definitely necessary for this film and if you've followed this sage, it's a must see. Almost perfect in its execution, make sure you see this before anyone has the gall to ruin it for you. #dontspoilendgame"

"This film was missing something. Perhaps it's the way it progressed, with its haphazard, non-linear-linear storytelling but the emotional "oomph" I was expecting was missing. Don't get me wrong, the story is heartbreaking and definitely a tough watch with what they go through, but it didn't have me weeping. I can say though that Timothee Chalamet was incredible in this film and is a major reason to consider watching this one."

"The best Transformers film to date, though I'm not sure if that's such a feat (and I haven't watched either of the Wahlberg ones). The lack of Michael Bay's frenetic action scenes is a big plus, but the best part, for mine, was Hailee Steinfeld, who brings a great amount of emotion to her role. She does a great job playing off of Bumblebee and creating a great arch which we can invest in. By the same token, John Cena is relegated to a gimmick, which is a shame."

"This was surprisingly delightful. The animation was fantastic, the impressive cast was great and the songs were the heartbeat of this. While it's essentially a glorified talent show, it is very charming and has a lot of things going for it. It's not going to be up there as one of the best animations but if you're looking for a fun, entertaining night in, you can do a lot worse than throw this one on."
|70 60%||Captain Marvel (2019) - Mar 22, 2019
"My initial reaction coming out of this was nothing but love and pure exhilaration. While that hasn't completely waned, I have definitely tempered my feelings. It's a good film and it does many things well, and a few things wrong. The overall result is very positive, and if it doesn't do anything else, it certainly pumps you up for Endgame. Brie Larson is great in her role and hopefully, we get to see a lot more of her."
|75 74%||If Beale Street Could Talk (2018) - Mar 18, 2019
"Whether it's the colours, the dialogue, the portrait shots/close-ups, the score or the performances, this film has it all and it's a beautiful film too. Having said that, it's a very artistic film and it won't be for everyone. For me, it's great. The film has a lot to say about the racial tensions nowadays, more so than the films that got more recognition, so it's a shame because this one probably has the most to say."
|65 47%||A Simple Favor (2018) - Mar 17, 2019
"A surprising comedy-come-thriller, that is handled and balanced very well to make it an enjoyable film. The film doesn't take itself too seriously, to the film's advantage, and both leading ladies play their roles perfectly. They camp it up a bit and exaggerate characteristics, but it all works fairly well. The story does verge on the ridiculous towards the end, but by that point, you've been slowly built up and will be prepared for it."

"This was actually surprisingly pretty good, though the title might actually give more away than its intention. The best part about this was the ease in which they are able to put all seven sisters on the screen at once. The CGI is seamless and it's quite incredible. Other than that, the story was pretty good and the big story reveal was pretty shocking but didn't do much else but become a fairly stock standard action thriller."
