"My initial reaction coming out of this was nothing but love and pure exhilaration. While that hasn't completely waned, I have definitely tempered my feelings. It's a good film and it does many things well, and a few things wrong. The overall result is very positive, and if it doesn't do anything else, it certainly pumps you up for Endgame. Brie Larson is great in her role and hopefully, we get to see a lot more of her."

"Whether it's the colours, the dialogue, the portrait shots/close-ups, the score or the performances, this film has it all and it's a beautiful film too. Having said that, it's a very artistic film and it won't be for everyone. For me, it's great. The film has a lot to say about the racial tensions nowadays, more so than the films that got more recognition, so it's a shame because this one probably has the most to say."

"A surprising comedy-come-thriller, that is handled and balanced very well to make it an enjoyable film. The film doesn't take itself too seriously, to the film's advantage, and both leading ladies play their roles perfectly. They camp it up a bit and exaggerate characteristics, but it all works fairly well. The story does verge on the ridiculous towards the end, but by that point, you've been slowly built up and will be prepared for it."

"This was actually surprisingly pretty good, though the title might actually give more away than its intention. The best part about this was the ease in which they are able to put all seven sisters on the screen at once. The CGI is seamless and it's quite incredible. Other than that, the story was pretty good and the big story reveal was pretty shocking but didn't do much else but become a fairly stock standard action thriller."

"It may not be a Best Picture-worthy film but it's still very good. While there is controversy around this film, as a narrative it is done very well and is both interesting and enjoyable. It is specially made so by being light-hearted and at times comedic, among all the drama. Both lead performances are great, even though it's polar opposites, and Mahershala Ali definitely earned his Oscar; playing the role with subtle brilliance."

"While they do their best to flesh out this film, there just isn't enough there to make this all that interesting. The flashback scenes are not very engaging but much better acted, while the actual act of bravery is fascinating but way too short-lived. Their performances are fine, but unfortunately, it stands out like a sore thumb around the other actors. This would have also benefited from having more backstory about the attacker or scenes from his perspective to build the tension."

"The good news is that it's not as terrible as the trailer made it out to be, but the bad news is that it's completely forgettable. Don't get me wrong, it's fine for what it is and there are some fun moments, but it's so predictable, it's almost painful. It feels very much like any other J-Lo film, and the emotional moments are handled well, but it's just nothing new to be able to really push this anywhere beyond "okay"."

"This was a pleasant surprise with it being super entertaining, particularly thanks to its terrific action sequences. It does however immediately lose some credit in my books because of its obvious set up for future films rather than focusing on a self-contained film. Nevertheless, the film really does look amazing and while Alita herself is a little jarring at first, she will quickly grow on you as she shines throughout the whole film."

"I'm not usually a fan of period pieces but this film toes the line between a period piece and a comedy very effectively. Outrageous, unabashed and funny without ever feeling over the top. The performances and direction really lift this to another level. The story itself is also very engaging to the very end (though I wasn't exactly a fan of the ending). It won't be for everyone but it's definitely worth a look."

"It is just a beautifully shot film. Whilst the story is quite simple, it is packed with emotion and Cuaron's sweeping, panning filming-style draws you right into the middle of it. Everything about this film feels really authentic and the imagery in black and white is just so beautiful. The iconic shot alone (see the movie poster) and the entire scene leading up to the moment is the best part of the film and almost completely won me over."
