"This is complete garbage, but is it really average 13th percentile garbage? It's less bad and more extremely dull."
75 43% Frankenhooker (1990) - May 10, 2021
"James Lorinz does his best Jeffrey Combs impression, and Patty Mullen gives an unironically brilliant performance. I'm kind of surprised how much of a budget this got, or how much it managed to stretch whatever budget it had into looking like a legitimate production and not some super low end grindhouse trash. In fact it's almost too slick, which makes it feel campy and self-aware instead of sleazy and gritty."

70 34% White Christmas (1954) - May 09, 2021
100 94% Captain Blood (1935) - May 09, 2021
"Very possibly the greatest pirate movie ever made, absolutely propelled by Flynn, de Havilland, and the GOAT, Korngold. Gives so many cues to Curse of the Black Pearl, which in case you'd forgotten, is also one of the all time great adventure movies, despite what the Pirates franchise might have become."
90 77% The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) - May 08, 2021
"Everything cranked up to a very saccharine eleven and then some."
80 54% Revolver (1973) - May 07, 2021
80 54% Raining in the Mountain (1979) - May 02, 2021
"To compare if to the other Hu movies I've seen, it's a middle point between the longer and more fantastical epics A Touch of Zen and Legend of the Mountain, and the shorter, action focused Dragon Inn. In that respect it's sort of missing the best of both worlds, but it is a fun heist movie/succession plot/farce all rolled into one."
75 43% Borom sarret (1963) - May 02, 2021
"Neorealist and very reminiscent of 'Bicycle Thieves'."
