Weeded-out PI Larry 'Doc' Sportello is sent on a quest by his ex-old lady Shasta, and things get very strange from there. The plot's as convoluted as Chandler and Hammett, and twice as funny, and you get Josh Brolin's imperisable performance as Bigfoot Bjornsen, the funniest male supporting performance in American cinema since Bert Lahr's Cowardly Lion."

"Among the worst films ever made. Evidently shot and cut by blindfolded babboons. The gutless decision to make the songs into musical numbers taking place in the heroine's head is a disastrous one: the film all too often grinds to a halt to allow for too much cute editing between reality and fantasy. Vile."
