82 62% Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis (2008) - Rated 08 Sep 2023
"Truly delightful little film, the satirical takes on life up north were hilarious."
76 43% Thelma & Louise (1991) - Rated 26 Jul 2023
"Classic 90s adventure caper, a little tragic a little "too real" at times. Loved the chemistry and Susan Sarandon's performance."
83 67% Pom Poko (1994) - Rated 26 Jul 2023
"Beautiful, endearing movie with an all-too-relevant environmental message. Really gives a complete story"
32 4% Dear Evan Hansen (2021) - Rated 26 Jul 2023
"just not really my style of movie or music"
83 67% The Menu (2022) - Rated 26 Jul 2023
"Loved this movie - masterful performances by Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy, sets up the suspense of a weird/wild horror movie without actually being scary so that hit a sweet spot. One of those movies where you just sit in, accept the wonky premise and characters and just enjoy the ride of how weird it gets."
64 22% Barbie (2023) - Rated 21 Jul 2023
"Some nice cultural references and a well-intentioned movie, but I'm not sure it ultimately fell on the right side of crass commercialism. Not actually enough character depth is explored, we waste a lot of time on slapstick/adventure setpieces (Will Ferrell absolute didn't need to be in this movie). The musical numbers and set design were some of the best parts though."
80 54% The French Dispatch (2021) - Rated 16 Apr 2023
"A cute, very Wes Anderson-ey anthology, although I only found the very first story featuring Benicio del Toro to be truly engrossing, the rest was very Wes-like but felt more like filler stories. The anthology format I think loses some of the immersion/investment you'd find in a feature-length film"
78 49% Black Widow (2021) - Rated 13 Jun 2022
"A chopped-up film that definitely missed some polish. It hit well in some sanguine moments, and could've traded some action set pieces to dive even deeper into character relationships which was a strong point. Didn't weave very tightly into the wider MCU which was a disappointment as the first Phase 4 film."
81 57% The Farewell (2019) - Rated 13 Apr 2021
"A sweet and simple little movie - very genuine and relatable. Awkwafina really shined in this role!"
80 54% Tenet (2020) - Rated 09 Mar 2021
"An interesting Nolan time concept that gets overshadowed by over the top action sequences and bland characterization. The revelations are not as profound/interesting as other movies like memento, I would mainly take it as a decent action movie."
