92 55% In Cold Blood (1967) - Rated 30 Nov 2011
"In Cold Blood has an eeriness to it that most films fail at trying to accomplish. Robert Blake and Scott Wilson both play their roles perfectly and are simply two of the coolest guys I have ever watched in a movie. Both of them pull off the "not caring" attitude great, and both make it seem like what they were doing was totally logical. This is what gives the film such an intense feeling of passion for money, greed, and hate towards others, and how quickly situations can escalate."
100 95% North by Northwest (1959) - Rated 20 Nov 2011
"To me, there is no Director who clearly puts so much effort, passion, and commitment into his work. Every scene is given so much attention and filled with so much detail, that it gives the setting of the film such a real feeling, it's hard not to get enthralled in each and every moment. Cary Grant plays the best role I have ever seen. To begin with his character is absolutely phenomenal, and he plays the part so well it is impossible not to love every moment. This is a perfect adventure film."
65 10% The Shrine (2010) - Rated 17 Nov 2011
"The Shrine a group of journalists who decide to go to a Polish village where a man has disappeared recently, and turns out more people have vanished over the years. The movie tries to catch the viewers attention by being mysterious, and not giving to much away at first, but when you actually do figure out what is going on in the village, the movie loses a lot of its appeal. I also thought the acting was weak, but for a low budget film, and straight to dvd, this isn't a complete waste of time."
65 10% Let Me In (2010) - Rated 05 Nov 2011
"I knew from the start that Let Me In is a remake, but this is literally scene by scene, almost verbatim, the exact same movie. I already have a hard time swallowing remakes to begin with, but I can understand sometimes when the movie has been outdated and is need of a remake by the right director, but this came out only 2 years after the original. There is absolutely no need for a remake that soon, unless for two reasons, to add more to the story, or simply because people hate reading subtitles"
95 70% Let the Right One In (2008) - Rated 05 Nov 2011
"Let the Right One In is a really neat take on the story of vampires, and is told through a story of two young kids, one of whom is a vampire. Both of the kids are fantastic actors, and both do a great job of actually caring about there story, and where it progresses. The film is shot so well and at time is shot from a really interesting perspective. The whole story is great, getting to see the kids grow as friends and eventually learning the dark secret about his friend."
90 40% Vertigo (1958) - Rated 04 Nov 2011
"Vertigo has such a unique and complex story that keeps evolving as the movie goes on. James Stewart does such a fascinating job in this film, starting out as a normal detective and then slowly start lose it, and gets caught up in a very strange love affair. He plays both of his parts perfectly. Same goes with Kim Novak. She in a way plays two characters and does a great job of not revealing that to the viewers. This film has a great story, with a flawless cast. Another Hitchcock masterpiece."
85 25% Attack the Block (2011) - Rated 03 Nov 2011
"The story reminds me a lot of Goonies or Super 8. It's about a group of kids living an apartment block in south England. The kids come across an alien life form, but little do they know that there are many more aliens to come. Unlike most movies where kids are the dominant actors, these actors actually do a fantastic job throughout the whole movie. The alien species in this film is one of the most unique and neat looking alien I've seen in a while. Fans of Hot Fuzz, must see this, very fun film."
98 85% Another Earth (2011) - Rated 03 Nov 2011
"Another Earth has such a unique and interesting story, which does not happen to often these days with so many remakes and unoriginal films being made. The film deals with many human emotions, revenge, lust, gluttony, but also has just enough sci-fi to keep you guessing throughout the film. Both of the story lines blend together perfectly, and the conclusion will you leave you speechless. Another Earth is a one of a kind."
95 70% Bellflower (2011) - Rated 02 Nov 2011
"This film tells a very realistic love story, that really shows what it is like to be in a relationship today, and leaves out all of the typical "Hollywood" romance. It shows all the negativity that happens when someone gets in a relationship, losing friends, the jealousy, the clingyness etc. This movie has great film work, perfect story telling, a cast with strong chemistry, and a neat little twist with a beautiful ending. Bellflower is a must see."
90 40% Them (2006) - Rated 02 Nov 2011
"This is probably one of the most tense films I've watched in a while. From the moment the film begins, it is already making the viewer panic. That opening scene has to be the most well shot opening horror scenes ever. Although the films weakest point is probably the plot. It claims that is based on actual events, and it seems to give some pretty realistic facts, but you never know these days with the whole "based" on actual events. But the weak plot does not at all poison the film whatsoever."
