"Gangster gets out of jail. Gangster meets gangsters and does gangster stuff. And there are other groups of gangsters. Gangsters trade money for drugs and kill each other, multiple times. Somebody owes money or drugs to somebody #2 so they're stressed about that. In the end, Gangster learns that he was tricked by gangsters."

"A very good movie. I was drawn into it. However, with typical Hollywood, it has a scene that bashes Christianity, which is so old and cliche'. Also, Hugh Jackman is much better looking than the actress that plays his wife. He looked like a male model and she looked like a paper bag. It didn't work for me; I didn't believe it. After seeing her for the first 4 or 5 scenes, I actually hoped that her character would die."

"Minus 10 for excessive violence including torture. This writer/director loves satanic themes, so it's no surprise that hollywood funds his films. The movie shows people being shot in the head and face at least 10 times. Then there's the scene where he bludgeons someone's face until the person is no longer recognizable. Although there is some appeal in the fantasy and graphics, the movie isn't worth watching."

"This is about a simple young man trying to build a life in a large city of beauty, filth, and degeneracy. It captures some of the desires, struggles, and angers of a young man living in an unfortunate environment. Ultimately, there is some lack of direction in the movie, although maybe this reflects the lack of direction in the main character. The violence is shocking, especially for 1976, but it doesn't make the movie better."
