78 56% Lady Bird (2017) - Rated 07 Mar 2018
"Probably one of the most realistic portrayals of being a pretentious weird teenager in a small town that I can think of ever, unfortunately sometimes maybe too much because man these kids are annoying. Funny, heartfelt and genuine"
20 6% Salò, or The 120 Days Of Sodom (1975) - Rated 07 Mar 2018
"Listen if I wanted to see a bunch of anecdotes about poop and depraved sex stuff being told while teenagers listen in tearful horror I could have just gone to my family dinner after my grandma's had a few gin and tonics"
40 18% Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) - Rated 07 Mar 2018
"While an interesting premise with some truly memorable performances and stand out moments, this movie is hampered considerably by incredibly clumsy attempts to comment on racism -your attempts to say racism is bad fall a little flat when you lovingly craft a three dimensional interesting and realistic racist white cop and barely deign the black characters stock personalities- and mean-spirited and cringeworthy humor, an unfortunate hallmark of McDonagh's films that's worse here than ever before"
86 68% A Woman Under the Influence (1974) - Rated 07 Mar 2018
"An incredibly rough sit on an incredibly rough subject, a very understated, naturalistic and subtle look at a clash between mental illness and toxic masculinity, showing a family breakdown over a mans inability to truly allow himself to feel empathy for someone who desperately needs his help. Not a film you enjoy per se but an incredibly valuable experience. Don't watch if you're already feeling sad tho I learned that the hard way"
70 31% A Fantastic Woman (2017) - Rated 07 Mar 2018
"While it is great to show a sensitive and nuanced portrayal of a trans woman played by (stunningly well no less) an actual trans woman, the plot and characterization left a lot to be desired. Also gosh she does love walking. Marina is always walking somewhere. Bet her calves were toned as shit when they finished filming."
74 43% I, Tonya (2017) - Rated 07 Mar 2018
"While it has a lot of the hallmarks and trappings of a standard biopic, the subject matter and interesting creative choices really make this one stand out. Amazing performances,a truly intense and heartbreaking sit, also painfully relatable to anyone who has ever felt that their best would never been good enough"
93 81% Phantom of the Paradise (1974) - Rated 07 Mar 2018
"A gorgeous, unique and utterly bizarre take on both Faust and Phantom Of The Opera with all the glitz and 1970s showbiz sleaze you could ever want and some true bangers on the soundtrack"
95 93% Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) - Rated 07 Mar 2018
"Bombastic, campy, somehow strangely guarded about how self aware it is, nonsensical, endlessly quotable, a wild fucking ride from start to finish"
