"I love the thoughts this film inspired in me, the feelings it brought to the surface, the concepts it challenges us to really ponder, and a version of the future that is not quite as bleak as many films lately. The performances were inspiring, the soundtrack wonderful, and the cinematography fitting. I really enjoyed this film on so many levels, and highly recommend seeing it."
70 21% RoboCop (2014) - Rated 22 Feb 2014
"The idea of removing the human element from our police force domestically and our soldiers everywhere is a double edged sword. Lives are saved, but compassion is left by the wayside. This is a terrifying topic, and this flick tries to do it justice. Though it fails to really reach its lofty goal, it DEFINITELY gets you thinking, and is wrapped up in a decently stylized action film. The topic is relevant and interesting, and I wish this film had a bit more finesse and had a stronger impact."
80 34% The Fast and the Furious (2001) - Rated 08 Sep 2013
"One of my favorite guilty pleasures. Point Break, but with cars :) (and not quite as good)"
90 67% Casino Royale (2006) - Rated 07 Sep 2013
"Introducing a new Bond is always a bit of give and take. Daniel Craig's Bond was refreshing and pleasantly surprising. This flick fired on all cylinders from its action sequences to it's set pieces, music, dialogue and casting. Hard not to love."
70 21% Riddick (2013) - Rated 07 Sep 2013
"I really enjoyed almost everything about this film. The exception is that I've already seen this movie. It was called Pitch Black. The story picks up right after Chronicles, and is an interesting progression, but, at the same time, Twohy could have told ANY other story here, and I'd probably have liked it more. It's kind of like how Ridley Scott's Robin Hood was good, but wasn't the film we WANTED to see; we want to see the NEXT story, the one where he's actually Robin Hood; similar thing here."
60 16% Olympus Has Fallen (2013) - Rated 07 Sep 2013
"The score should be lower, closer to the forties, but I raised it for the excellent amount of unflinching violence. This isn't gory, in your face stuff like in Braveheart, the characters just straight up kill people, violently. It's not excessive for the film, it's just that the film doesn't flinch away from it, and I like that. The story is ridiculous, filled with far too much sentiment for the situation, thereby removing any realism. Think Die Hard (Original), but sillier."
80 34% Moonrise Kingdom (2012) - Rated 04 Sep 2013
"Full of Wes Anderson's unique whimsy. I really like this man's films."
85 43% 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) - Rated 30 Aug 2013
"Great re-imagining of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, with a wonderful cast and excellent script."
88 52% Bad Boys II (2003) - Rated 30 Aug 2013
"Just like Bad Boys, but bigger in every way. Bigger violence, bigger action, and bigger mental issues for Martin Lawrence's character. Fun as Hell."
90 67% Ronin (1998) - Rated 30 Aug 2013
"Action-drama at its finest. Understand, though, that you must actually WATCH this film. The plot is not handed to you on a sliver platter. It's woven in subtly, masterfully, with small moments of telling dialogue and beautifully executed pieces of visual subtext."
