84 26% Fletch (1985) - Rated 19 Oct 2007
"A nice little 80's comedy that became a massive cable tv / video store cult hit. Chevy Chase is at his wise-ass, sarcastic best, as he IS Irwin M. Fletcher, a chameleon-like investigative reporter, who has stumbled (ass-backwards, as usual) into a murder-for-hire plot that leads to the nerve center of a huge illegal drug ring. If he can survive it all, Fletch will have the story of his career."
89 61% The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) - Rated 19 Oct 2007
"The pinnacle of the Wes Anderson/Owen Wilson collaborations. The cast delivers and Anderson's dreamy and often dreary world is fully realized in this quirky, eclectic treat from the team that brought you RUSHMORE and BOTTLE ROCKET"
95 84% Batman Begins (2005) - Rated 19 Oct 2007
"Not just the greatest Comic Hero film of all time- simply a great film. Christian Bale once again disappears into a role and bring much more humanity and realism to the famed vigilante. A film that is sweeping and grand in it's landscapes is also tight and taut in it's plot and new twist on a familiar tale. This is a movie that just gets better with repeat viewings."
100 96% Pulp Fiction (1994) - Rated 17 Oct 2007
"The most original, genre busting and genre re-defining film ever made. The non linear time line follows the escapades of two hitmen, a boxer, a Crime lord, 2 dumb petty thieves, 1 very special suitcase, and cast of sordid and intriguing characters. Mix in an eclectically brilliant soundtrack and some of the best dialogue ever written for the screen and you have 2 1/2 hours of the most fun one could have at the movies. "Oh I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?""
70 11% Club Dread (2004) - Rated 17 Oct 2007
"Silly, stupid fun from the Broken Lizard boys. This homage to 1970's style horror "slasher" films finds the guests and employees of a tropical resort run by a second rate- washed up Jimmy Buffet type of singer (played brilliantly by Bill Paxton) being picked off - one by one. The film satirizes all of the typical sillyness of the genre and the Broken Lizard brand of humor permeates every frame. If you are looking for mindless, silly fun, with some mock gore/violence - this film is worth a look."
89 61% Batman (1989) - Rated 17 Oct 2007
"A classic. This dark vision, brought to life by genius, Tim Burton, unleashed a juggernaut on the movie watching world. Keaton truly delivered as both a moody billionaire playboy, and an avenging vigilante bent for justice. Nicholson's over-the-top performance as The Joker is worth the admission alone and Kim Bassinger reminds us of why she was an 80's screen goddess. The sets look like hell erupted and Gotham sprang forth from it's belly. Visionary and fun till the very end."
59 3% The Simpsons Movie (2007) - Rated 17 Oct 2007
"Hmmmm....not what I was hoping for. While the South Park gang truly was BIGGER, LOUDER, and UNCUT - this was bloated and it broke no new ground for this innovative and ground breaking show. The moment that rang truest for me was in the opening, when the Simpson family was at film version of the Itchy & Scratchy Show. Homer said, "I feel like a sucker paying for something I get at home for free. And so should all of YOU!" as he points a meaty yellow digit out at the paying customers. D'OH!"
95 84% Heathers (1989) - Rated 17 Oct 2007
"BRILLIANT. This dark, dark comedy re wrote the book on the teen-angst/comedy genre. A popular click of girls, who terrorize their classmates with their power and social status, begin to get mixed up in suicide and other nefarious dealings that eerily coincide with the arrival of a mysterious new student. Christian Slater's star making turn - aping Jack Nicholson's manic characters' moves to a frightening "T"."
82 19% Mallrats (1995) - Rated 17 Oct 2007
"A completely underrated comedy by the arbiter of suburban hipness and angst, Kevin Smith. The writing snaps and crackles like a dry log on a raging fire as we follow the mis adventures of 2 NJ slackers. Reeling from the sudden (almost simultaneous) dumpings by their girlfriends, Brodie and TS seek solace in the on place they know they can - The Mall. Chaos, crazy characters and hilarity ensue!"
85 34% Sin City (2005) - Rated 17 Oct 2007
"Truly a graphic novel leaping straight from the pages onto the celluloid. A fantastic vision, brought to life by creater Frank Miller and admirer, Robert Rodriguez, Sin City looks like nothing else. It follows the the intertwining and overlapping escapes of sordid, pulpy characters who inhabit a shady, gritty world. This film packs a punch."
