85 50% Psycho (1960) - Rated 08 Apr 2012
"A surprising and brilliant thriller with clever scenes that reveal the brilliant mind of Alfred Hitchcock. For example the scene where the female with the stolen money hears in her head the possible scenarios that follow the theft is quite interesting. The actors do fine job and it's a pleasure to follow how Hitchcock leads you from scene to scene."
70 12% The Exorcist (1973) - Rated 08 Apr 2012
"A quite vapid film. Maybe it's just because I've been exposed to films like Saw that this felt kind of plain and wasn't scary at all. I can imagine that when the film first came, it might've been quite an experience with the demon-girl floating above the bed and voimiting green liquid and so on but now when it wasn't scary and the effects weren't impressive, it was just a pretty weird and a kind of dull B-movie."
0% The Untouchables (1987) - Rated 08 Apr 2012
"One if the worst films I've ever seen. I was all excited when I bought the film. Robert Deniro and Sean Connery and a review that says "One of the best mafia movies ever made." This must be good. But the plot is full of disgusting clichés, characters are hollow and there is a really strange western scene which according to the director is supposed to "renew" the genre. It just feels out of place. Even Ennio Morricones soundtrack is a disappointment. I can't recommend this film to anybody. AVOID!"
70 12% Gomorra (2008) - Rated 08 Apr 2012
90 62% We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) - Rated 08 Apr 2012
"An intense and quite disturbing story about a troubled youth who ends up brutally killing people in his school. It's painful to see how the boys mother desperately tries to figure out the reason for his sons killing-spree. But no matter what she does, she just can't reach her son. You get the feeling that there simply isn't anything you can do about it and the killing-spree is inevitable. The film leaves you pondering whether a person can born evil or are there always reasons for such actions."
90 62% Dancer in the Dark (2000) - Rated 27 Feb 2012
"A movie that touched me deep in the heart. At first, I was a little surprised as the film has quite cold, realistic colours, nothing like in an Hollywood film. When I got used to this, I saw however that it's absolutely necessary for the melancholic mood of the film. The tragic fate of Selma and her son made me feel deep empathy and in the ending scene, it required an enormous effort to keep myself from bursting into tears."
75 37% The Thin Red Line (1998) - Rated 26 Feb 2012
"A quite beautiful description of American soldiers fighting their way through enemy Japanese lines. The movie is shot well and it pleases the eye with its breathtaking scenery and intense combat scenes. The typical Terrence Malick -style voiceover with contemplation about the difficult questions of life wasn't this time however as impressive as in for example Tree of Life. It felt like something was missing. In spite of this, The Thin Red Line is nevertheless a decent war film."
100 87% Seven Samurai (1954) - Rated 26 Feb 2012
"Quite simply a perfect film. Characters are well developed and have interesting varied personalities which creates dunny and insightful dialogue. It is also quite amazing that in spite of the duration of over three hours, it feels that not a single scene is unnecessary. Each have their place in order to create this heroic tale of epic proportions where honour meets impudence."
