51 3% John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023) - Rated 14 May 2024
"Holy shit talk about over the top! Packed with action, well rehearsed choreography and mindless shooting. At this point it just feels they're going for the movies kill record. It's like watching a video game but not playing. Very much liked the bird's view scene with flaming bullets, others are just more of the same. And passing of the time was before the sunrise was so awkward that I could barely stay focused. I won't be missing the series after such a bitter end."
95 99% Dune: Part Two (2024) - Rated 07 May 2024
"IMAX. When Paul rides Shai-Hulud for the first time will go in my personal history as one of favorite moments in the cinema. Never has 3 hours passed so immersed and swift, wishing this was a 6 hour film. Slowly paced after all introductions to the universe (with Part One), Villenouve focuses on atmospheric immersion of Dune universe. It does not follow the book completely and world-building is much greater in the book, but this series is a great representation of it. One of the greatest sequels"
80 45% Wonka (2023) - Rated 07 May 2024
"It does feel a bit magical and inspiring, especially in the beginning, but it slowly rolls out to be a rather average story with too many forced coincidences and confusing target audience. It's still an enjoyable but what could be a masterpiece ends up being a nice experience at the movies."
81 51% Priscilla (2023) - Rated 09 Apr 2024
"A toned down version with what feels a lot of details left out, but looking through the eyes of Priscilla now, as on old lady, probably how she wants to be seen. We see the film develop and narrate through atmospheric scenes with little glimpses of wild life. Priscilla's perception of the birdie in a golden cage feels almost claustrophobic. The grooming part feels very weird in this age and day, but hey, if the society didn't see it as problem at the time I won't judge. Sublime flick!"
91 94% Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) - Rated 06 Apr 2024
"A movie that isn't limited by the limits of a movie! But since it's so packed and fast you have a feeling you're missing amazing details that simply cannot be perceived with pacing as fast as it is. I very much like the format of the Spider verse films and they seem to be defining a whole new generation of cinema. The story is nice, not completely logical and consistent but hey, it's too packed to be perfect on a macro level. Would love to rewatch even if it has action scenes that're too long!"
90 89% Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) - Rated 08 Mar 2024
"A welcome and refreshing take on multiverse theories that seem so fundamental yet difficult to grasp with our linear mind! I would almost think the film gets lost a bit, but then again with all the possibilities of absurdities in the end it convices you they were going exactly for that and finally the whirlwind of chaos and story of traditional Chinese immigrants facing difficulties of modern life we land in a little more orderly universe where love is found and traditions blend into the modern."
87 74% The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) - Rated 02 Mar 2024
"A classic and my oldest horror ever watched. It's definitely a bit aged but I'm happy because its absurdity makes it less horrific and more enjoyable for those that are a bit sensitive to horror flicks and suspense movies. Super pleasant experience and love the old schoolness of it all."
82 55% Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) - Rated 09 Feb 2024
"It's an epic movie that reveals its epicness character at the beginning and then doesn't really bloom apart from amazing cinematography. But the whole thing it's just so sad it's hard to watch, which is presumably the intention. It drags a lot, there is no joy in more than 3 hours of this and would think very much before seeing it again. But definitely an interesting topic of the history and exploitation which I knew very little about."
74 26% Cefurji raus! (2013) - Rated 24 Jan 2024
"If you are familiar with the Fužine (part of Ljubljana stereotypically known for Yugo immigrants) environment this is a priceless look into a period of Yugoslav families living in Slovenia. Often not feeling belonging neither in Slovenia nor back in home country, leading to frustration and anger. The movie captures the essence but cinematography is quite horrible and there's little elegance in the movie. Feels older than it actually is. Great to watch once."
89 82% The Dreamers (2004) - Rated 10 Jan 2024
"Not a perfect movie but certainly inspiring if you allow it to be such. Soundtrack is superb, cinematography great, actors great. What it lacks is to cover the political background and overall feels a bit teenagey and rebellious for the sake of rebellion. Overall amazing cinema experience and definitely worth rewatching."
