90 86% La Jetée (1962) - Rated 29 Nov 2017
"The way this film is told (using only still images, with music and voice overs) keeps being avant-garde even today. Based on that i guess we could say this is an experimental film, and it's a damn good one on that. The images may be still on this film, but Chris Marker still manages to make you feel emotions, and that is a great achievement. It's like this film came out from a different timeline, a timeline where movies are near perfection. If you haven't seen this yet, please do."
78 59% Vincent (1982) - Rated 29 Nov 2017
"You can see 'Tim Burton' written all over the place, his visual style and passion for what he's making is everywhere, and the result is a cool, funny and entertaining short film. The animation is amazing too, and the voice acting by Vincent Price is just priceless."
40 13% Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) - Rated 29 Nov 2017
"Let's compare the beginning of both Star Wars trilogies. The older one, starting with 'A new hope', maybe didn't had a lot of technical paraphernalia as 'The phantom menace', but it had soul and style. Sadly, the opposite is what happens to 'The phantom menace'. It is a dull and boring film, with stupid filler humor in-between (and these kind of things would only get worse in 'Attack of the clones'). It may be imaginative, but that doesn't mean a thing if the final product turns out being bad."
87 68% Mulholland Drive (2001) - Rated 29 Nov 2017
"A nightmare-like experience, filled up with everything good that a movie can have, superbly directed by David Lynch. With an amazing narrative structure and full of meaning at every moment, this film will leave you thinking for hours and hours, both because of all the hard-to-decipher meanings, and also because this film is simply amazing and memorable in every aspect. Nice work Lynch, nice work."
76 40% Jaws (1975) - Rated 27 Nov 2017
"This film has memorable characters and soundtrack, and manages to be scary in a realistic way. The story is simple and pretty much straightforward but thanks to Spielberg's incredible direction and perfect acting (and casting too) it feels more complex and deep that it actually is. Damn sharks!"
72 22% 28 Days Later (2002) - Rated 27 Nov 2017
"This film may not be perfect, but it's interesting to see it's evolution. It starts in a calm, dream-like way, then action rushes in, with not so well achieved tries at getting you to cry here and there, and then it get's calmly again. But this time it's not like a dream, this time we embrace everything that happened or has to happen. Cool direction, nice action scenes and acting and an okay use of music are some of the characteristics of this film, not memorable, but overall enjoyable."
88 77% My Neighbor Totoro (1988) - Rated 27 Nov 2017
"Miyazaki manages to thrill and to make us emotionally invested in this, maybe small on length and proportions, but big in charisma and perfectly told simplistic (in storytelling terms, not emotional ones) adventure. Memorable characters and situations are everywhere on this film. I definitely need to watch more of this director movies, because he can create worlds and situations as easy, accurate and remarkable as good books."
20 4% Zombieland (2009) - Rated 27 Nov 2017
"I don't know, i just don't enjoy this film. Didn't found this funny at any moment, and the story felt unoriginal to me, the acting feels over the top too, i guess the only things i enjoy of this films are the direction and editing. Other than that, it's pathetic to me, it doesn't has any love or passion, it's as cold as the north pole."
75 31% Saving Private Ryan (1998) - Rated 27 Nov 2017
"The first 20 or so minutes are incredible, because of the amazing editing and sound effects.. The rest of the film doesn't get as raw or amazing as that, but it still makes up for the reputation of this film. Though Spielberg, in my humble opinion, doesn't manages to make a masterpiece out of this film, (unlike Schindler list or Jurassic park) he still delivers and doesn't disappoints."
77 50% Tesis (1996) - Rated 27 Nov 2017
"Suspense done right. For the sake of comparing, maybe not as well-directed as something Hitchcock would do, but still manages to thrill you in a related away. I didn't found the actors to be that good but the story (and how everything is slowly unfolded) makes up for it."
