48 43% Viva Zapata! (1952) - Jan 27, 2022
"Brando looks constipated in every scene (beneath the dark pancake makeup) and the screenplay is either stilted political sloganeering about liberty, or rustic homilies about how farming land is like keeping a woman. Mostly I appreciate this film for making me want to read a book about Mexican history."
46 40% My Cousin Vinny (1992) - Jan 27, 2022
"This was not good enough to warrant a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, nor to be cited by the US Supreme Court a number of times."
54 53% Never Let Me Go (2010) - Jan 27, 2022
64 67% Boys Don't Cry (1999) - Jan 27, 2022
41 33% Red Sparrow (2018) - Jan 27, 2022
"Pretty intense in some parts (to the point of feeling exploitative), and whenever Rampling or Irons is on screen it feels like a top tier Le Carre adaptation. Unfortunately Jennifer Lawrence is totally out of her depth in something like this, and with someone capable instead this would easily be 10-15 points higher."
28 19% 127 Hours (2010) - Jan 27, 2022
"Even worse than Slumdog Millionaire, by being more annoying and frantically edited. Boyle is up there with Ridley Scott for me in terms of a filmmaker's output being so variable in quality (though predictably the earlier stuff is better). Also surprised at the favorable critical reception this got, both in the media and on here."
39 30% Antlers (2021) - Jan 27, 2022
45 39% Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) - Jan 27, 2022
"It's basically on the same level as Pacific Rim (same neon Hong Kong fight more or less), better than King of the Monsters, and would have been improved by dropping the Millie Bobby Brown plot. I also have to agree with another reviewer who mentioned the awkwardness of a positive portrayal of a conspiracy theorist podcaster given the world we're living in right now."
15 8% Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) - Jan 27, 2022
"Jesus Christ, what happened to Linda Hamilton in the intervening years? She's completely forgotten how to act and made this worse by turning up, overshadowing the ridiculous manner in which Arnold's introduced. Also appreciate the "lol T2 didn't matter at all" scene in the first two minutes with de-aged uncanny valley characters from a PS4 cutscene."
12 6% Club Dread (2004) - Jan 27, 2022
"It would appear Super Troopers was a fluke."
