70 15% How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) - Rated 06 Nov 2020
"One of those bad-good films I watch at the holidays every year. I love Jim Carrey's performance as the Grinch but does it do or add anything to the canon/performance of the original Boris Karloff animation? Absolutely not but it is still a fun watch which I think only Jim Carrey could've pulled off with his rubber face and spastic form of comedy. Certainly better than the Benedict Cumberbatch animation."
93 75% Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) - Rated 06 Nov 2020
"I love the lush atmospheres, the soundtrack, and the fight choreography here. I took a few points off as I have grown apart from the very floaty "wire-fu" style of acrobatics being used heavily in this and House of Flying Daggers. The fight between Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi may be one of my favorites in martial art films."
90 60% Night of the Living Dead (1968) - Rated 06 Nov 2020
"Whether you believe this film is an allegory for the Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam, both, or none this film absolutely holds up. Especially knowing how small the budget was and the efforts that George Romero & Company put in to create this. Some of the scares do not hit quite as hard but the overall atmosphere is still very tense."
95 90% The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) - Rated 06 Nov 2020
65 5% Rosemary's Baby (1968) - Rated 06 Nov 2020
"This is one of those films where I can see what incredible inspiration it caused in film history but the "scares" don't hold up unfortunately. A lot of them can come off as unintentionally funny, which was assuredly not the intent of the film. Doesn't hold up quite as well as say Night of the Living Dead in terms of horror/thriller elements. The book is great though."
77 25% Hellboy (2004) - Rated 06 Nov 2020
"It's hard NOT to like a Guillermo del Toro world on film. Unfortunately, it trips itself up a little bit for me with the character writing and some of the loose plot elements involving bad nazis and other early 2000s camera/editing techniques. I can't say I am a fan of that really slow-mo frame by frame styling that other films like Man On Fire use."
82 35% Ip Man (2008) - Rated 06 Nov 2020
88 45% 12 Angry Men (1957) - Rated 06 Nov 2020
"One of my favorite movies of all time, it only loses points due to a slow start that has made it hard at times to show to friends without explaining that it becomes a classic later on. It creates such a tense atmosphere with such a small, character driven set. The ultimate low-budget film so to speak."
95 90% WALL·E (2008) - Rated 06 Nov 2020
"Wall-E is perhaps one of the most adorable post-apocalyptic films on record. I am always impressed by Pixar's ability to pack so much charisma into what is essentially a box with binoculars on top. My personal favorite Pixar film."
90 60% Halloween (1978) - Rated 06 Nov 2020
