85 37% Raging Bull (1980) - Rated 19 Jan 2015
"The sheer, absolute, crushing darkness of the movie kind of drags it down, but MAN, those fighting scenes."
65 12% Escape from L.A. (1996) - Rated 19 Jan 2015
"I used to love this movie as a kid and sort of dislike Escape from New York, but my opinions on the two have basically flipped. This is, by far, the worse movie. That said, it's still watchable, it's still got Kurt Russell as Snake, and it's a perfectly watchable big dumb action movie- which basically sums up the problem right there, given that Escape from NY was more akin to Blade Runner than Blade: Trinity."
90 51% Escape from New York (1981) - Rated 19 Jan 2015
"It's much lower-key than I would prefer (I expected something closer to its sequel or Big Trouble in Little China going in as an 11-year-old, and got a spiritual successor to Assault on Precinct 13) but honestly? It rocks. Every one-liner hits, every action sequence is fantastic, Kurt Russell is fucking awesome, it even has Ernest Borgnine and Isaac Hayes being awesome!"
95 68% The Big Lebowski (1998) - Rated 19 Jan 2015
"A little fatty, but that works to its favor as much as its detriment."
100 89% Taxi Driver (1976) - Rated 19 Jan 2015
30 1% The Room (2003) - Rated 27 Dec 2014
"Honestly, after the initial shock wears off, it's just kind of a slog. Outside of Wiseau himself, it just feels like a shitty student movie."
95 68% Miami Connection (1988) - Rated 27 Dec 2014
"When I hear the phrase "accidental masterpiece," this is what comes to mind."
85 37% The Last Dragon (1985) - Rated 27 Dec 2014
"The pacing is a little weird, the acting is eh, and it's very, very silly, but I really like this movie. It reminds me a lot of Miami Connection, except the humor is largely intentional rather than coming from a clueless director."
75 24% Mortal Kombat (1995) - Rated 27 Dec 2014
"The action is only competent, the CGI is awful, and it's probably the most 90s thing ever made, but the writing really carries this movie. It's surprisingly really, really funny for what it is, almost like The Last Dragon with less 80s and more 90s."
100 89% The Wild Bunch (1969) - Rated 27 Dec 2014
"The swan song of the Western genre. An absolutely perfect film in every way."
