  • MartinTeller

#1 - 76 stars for MartinTeller's Review of Groundhog Day

Groundhog-Day 72 - "You will not be permitted to continue your life until you fuck Andie MacDowell. THE GODS DEMAND THAT YOU GET INSIDE ANDIE MACDOWELL'S PANTS."
  • KasperL

#2 - 52 stars for KasperL's Review of Let the Right One In

Let-the-Right-One-In 90 - "Truly original. Perfectly balanced. The mix of vampire-horror with a coming-of-age story of a bullied boy proves very potent because supernatural happenings to Oskar seem not that much more violent and weird than the everyday life of growing up. The kids are as great as the cinematography is brilliant. A wonderful surprise and the best film of 2008."
  • KasperL

    #3 - 51 stars for KasperL's Review of District 9

District-9 90 - "Science fiction is, for me, all about the world that is created. More often than not it is the vision as a whole, rather than the plot, that sticks - and what a world Blomkamp creates here! Nevermind the allegory, this is about faultlessly realized aliens and mindblowingly cool weaponry. It's pure fun and, for once, a mockumentary framing device works very well, meshing seamlessly with the mindless action. Oh, and Copley does a great job, too, as the weird but loveable Wikus."
  • Spunkie

#4 - 47 stars for Spunkie's Review of Blade Runner

Blade-Runner 97 - "Blade Runner is more than Ridley, Vangelis, P.K. Dick, more than it's crew or material used in the work. From childhood the first time I saw the movie it's effect still dwells in my mind. The scenery is more melancholic than fourties America, or seventies France where hardboiled noir has it's own space. For me no special effect surpassed the beauty of Blade Running. Like a visual track for the lost causes. (ok managed to sound not like a scifi nerd, oh no movie geek is still at large)"

    #5 - 45 stars for doctor7's Review of Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Terminator-2-Judgment-Day 90 - "This movie is the true reason for Arnold Schwarzenegger's fame. He plays the role of the Terminator to perfection and Robert Patrick's distinct haunting presence is brilliant. The visuals are, even now, quite impressive. The dialog and story are both excellent. Indeed, this is one of the best action films you'll ever see and arguably James Cameron's best film."
  • Pickpocket

#6 - 40 stars for Pickpocket's Review of Lost in Translation

Lost-in-Translation 10 - "I love it. It's just nice to look at all the beautiful scenery, very dreamy. I can always pop this in if I'm having a bad day and feel infinitely better. Also, the soundtrack is perfect and Kevin Shields should be forced to work on more films. Bill Murray is always immensely watchable and it's no different here. One of my favorites."

#7 - 36 stars for doctor7's Review of Sin City

Sin-City 85 - "Fantastic visuals. Absolutely fantastic. If nothing else anyone should be able to appreciate how beautiful the movie looks. The soundtrack is amazing and fits the movie perfectly. The entire cast is fantastic, especially Mickey Rourke as Marv. If you enjoy film noir then definitely check this one out."
  • SirStuckey

#8 - 36 stars for SirStuckey's Review of The Hunger Games

The-Hunger-Games 70 - "This is where I mention that "It's no Battle Royale" and then all the beautiful women in the world flock to me because I have shown them how cool and smart I am by having seen/read a more obscure movie/book that this borrowed heavily from. I will await these women in my bedding chambers."
  • KasperL

#9 - 36 stars for KasperL's Review of Black Swan

Black-Swan 98 - "Instant all-time favorite. Aronofsky's masterful genrebender - an engrossing, audacious and inspired match of subject, theme and character - is an intensely suspenseful depiction of the ballet world that's raw and very real, yet harrowingly nightmarish. Portman is spectacular! An in turn enthralling, magnificently visceral and astoundingly powerful experience. The inevitable outcome leads to a beautiful, emotional crescendo. Let's just say I wholeheartedly agree with the last line of the film."
  • Pickpocket

#10 - 35 stars for Pickpocket's Review of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Eternal-Sunshine-of-the-Spotless 10 - "One of those films where when I finished it, I had to immediately watch it again. I connected with all of the characters, especially Joel, and give mad props to Jim Carrey in this film. Also, you have to be excited about Kaufman's future in this medium."
