Seriously, George Hamilton uses hypnotism to make Leslie Ann Warren take off her clothes. Besides how great that is, this one's interesting in seeing the killer (who are normally so meticulous) desperately improvising and willing to destroy so much to save himself.

One of the more intricate Columbos. I never forgot the self-incrimination trap to catch the offender, and the words Columbo used at the killer moment - although now I am sure in a contemporary court this would be demolished. The dive into the pool will always be the other key scene I remember. And this is the only time I can remember Columbo actually getting nasty.

Hamilton's been a good baddie before, just didn't quite buy him as a doctor here.

A solid episode despite my feelings towards hypnosis mumbo jumbo. The ending is more clever than some Columbo gotchas, but seems like a risky Gambit considering all of the other evidence. If the killer simply refused to talk at the end, Columbo's fake witness Gambit would be treated with utmost scrutiny in court. I expected them to prove his car was damaged by the pillar, but it never came up.
