Fact-based drama about a sociology graduate (Kathleen Quinlan) who starts working with teen prostitutes in Hollywood. The film does not draw back on its depiction of the brutality that the teens face nor of the exploitation that occurs from the pimps and johns ho use them. Pat Benatar's song "Hell Is For Children" is used to set the film's theme. (imdb)

I'm not gonna criticise anybody for trying to raise awareness of important social issues. The protagonist here is a passionate and empathetic human who wants to make a difference. That's great, but just about everything here is eclipsed by Streetwise which is the real deal. It doesn't help that Children of the Night is poorly penned and paced. Melvin Van Peebles' son Mario playing a pimp could be of interest to someone out there,..
