Drama, Crime
TV Episode
1h 31m
Commodore Otis Swanson owns a ship building company, and is not happy with the shady dealings of his son-in-law Charles Clay, who has turned the modest and upstanding business into a name-brand production line for status-seekers. Nor is he pleased with any of the people closest to him - his alcoholic daughter, his elderly nephew, his lawyer, and an employee. He announces at his birthday party his intention to sell the company. That night, the Commodore is murdered.

This was supposed to be the last episode and I am glad it wasn't. The setup is pretty good. The investigation is decent but a little disjointed and eccentric up until the episode becomes a whodonit. The point at which it becomes a whodonit is poorly executed, and every scene after that is equal parts eccentric and meandering. The worst is the ending, with Columbo solving the murder based on one character saying "tisn't."

This ones actually a whodunit, we don't see the murder. It's only an OK episode though.
