(TV) To an extent I appreciate what its doing, but the humour is often just a bit too edgy for the sake of it. Certain episodes in the first series were already beyond my tolerance for awkwardness without the randomly bigoted/clueless nonsense. It's just not fun to watch that stuff, even if its all at the expense of the characters espousing it. Writers: let's have some queer/ND comedies that are uplifting without re-treading the same angsty maudlin stuff which we're trying to leave in the past.

...tries to say things but falls flat on its face. It was short enough for me to finish it, but it got worse with time. Nevermind the awful 'understanding' of gender and sexuality displayed in the second-last episode.

Perhaps my expectations were too high because I was comparing this to the brilliant queer mental illness comedy-romance show "Work in Progress," but--this is no "Work in Progress."

Series 1: Left me a bit emotional. Good script and great acting. Sophie Thompson was a standout. Series 2: Binged in one night. It's painful but good, in a good way. Better than series 1, everything just felt so real like what was being shown wasn't just a show. I think it's both the closest and furthest from real life a TV show has ever felt, which is a bizarre feeling.
