Elaborate production, stunning special effects, and stellar cast give Swift justice to the 1726 social and political satire. (Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide)

At times enchanting adaptation of Swift's novel can't overcome an unavoidably overlong, episodic narrative, and a very awkward framing story, especially the peculiar domestic issues between Fox and Steenburgen. Danson is adequate if at times too bland in the lead, but the eclectic supporting cast is a rich treasure trove of fine cameos, especially O'Toole who steals the film early on as a daffy king.

Turgid, juvenile, and annoyingly politically correct. Totally charmless

So far the best Gulliver's Travels "film" to date.

Looks good, perfectly watchable, yet flawed. It definitely misses the extreme satire of the novel - like an adaptation of Dante's Inferno that focuses on Hell and not on who burns there. The ending is definitely part of the problem.
