Homer's Odyssey

The only dramatic episode from the "good seasons" that strikes me as a total misfire. The handling of the theme of suicide is lacking in every regard.

the first one they ever wrote and it shows. a desperately dark turn that should've been crucial instead plays as a bizarre aside because no foundations were laid, which is indefensible given how much time was devoted to the horribly clunky bart "tomfoolery". the way that darkness dissipates is even less earned; turns out condensing capra down to 20 minutes ain't easy--not yet, anyway.
